Real wierd brake problem

Ok so I took my car to AAMCO to get my tranny checked after we did the job and they kept it there while i was in LA. So, I get it back and now The front driver rotor is rusted except for the surface where the pads rub.. Now when I brake it grinds up there and when I turn left for that 45 degrees it makes the same noise even with no braking.. even more I just changed my pads and yes I did it right and I double checked everything... any ideas?

Jack your car up and put a jackstand under the control arm or just jack it up under the control arm. After you do this, put a hand on top and bottom of the tire and wiggle it. If there is alot of play in the wheel it could be one of two things, the wheel bearing or old ball joints with too much play. If that's not the case you should check the drive axles (CV joints) and see if they, or the boots are damaged in any way. This could be whats making the noise when turning. Lastly, you could take the caliper back off and use brake cleaner and clean all of the brake parts thoroughly and take the pads back off and make sure to put plently of disk brake queit behind the pads as usual but also in between the aluminum backing plate and the pad (the piece that goes in between the pad and the caliper if you even bothered to put it back in). My front, driver's side rotor was making squeaking noises while not braking after I changed my pads and adding the quieting gel between the backing plate and pad remedied the noise. Hope you find out whats up.

HA Fixed it. The little metal piece that covers the backside of the rotor had been bent inwards and was rubbing on the rotor, so I bent it back and =poof= no more grinding.
