if your cat goes bad... u will feel a significant loss of power. However... the rattling under my car at the moment is the resonator. I asked the honda dealer to check what the rattling was during an oil change i was getting there.

My cat makes the same sound. Removed the heat shield and it was slighly louder. So I figure it's the cat. Bought a hi-flow cat (not test pipe) now I just need to get a catback exhaust system because the high-flow isn't the same length.

If you burn any oil you could have goo in your cat that is starting to clog it up.
Heat shield will usually start to rattle first though, I've had that happen with other cars as well. The heat shield is so you don't light long grass on fire if you are driving in the country and stop on the side of the road..
When you get a new cat, the plus is you can put in one that's much smaller than the OEM one, and possibly reduce exhaust system restriction.. albeit with a lot of custom work with welding a flange on to the smaller cat. Avoid the Acura cat part. I got a best-ever 35 mpg on the highway with my $90 Magnaflow cat, can't be sure if this is the only factor and it also could be there's a small hole still in there.

I got the same problem too, happend only after driving for about 15 minutes, then everytime i hit the gas it hear that rattling noise. Sounds like it comes from under the right side of the car.

My cat went bad & it sounded like a cofee bean in an empty coffee can being banged around.
OP run your car a lil hard, if you smell a 'rotten egg' smell I garuntee it's your cat. When you let it go bad enough to where all the 'honey combs' inside are deterrierating (sp loL) it'll prolly throw a CEL. Thats what mine did.
Don't go bobo & take your cat off. Thats what stupid ricers do to pollute the world & run around with a CEL. Take your car to a muffler shop buy a cat with an o2 bung & get it taken care of.
