rather than take back my JDM f22b I swapped the head

since my mechanic said there was a bent valve in c1 (causing the 90% compression loss)

got the head back on today, idled smooth as shit even with the AC on, revved it once like 60sec in (to like 3k) and when it came back down it sputtered out.

started again, sputtered out. have to give it hella gas to drive it ... this is how it acted when i took it home from the shop to do the head swap and save $350.

fuck attarco and fuck working on cars. i'm either too old, too impatient, or too unskilled for this shit.

did u time the distributor correctly? We just did a headswap on my friend's b18c (jdm type R) cuz he had bent valves, and it did the same exact thing until we dialed in the dizzy just right.

that's fucking fantastic news. I didn't do shit... you mean like twisting the dizzy? Or using the timing marks and the timing gun?

I mean using them both in conjunction w/1 another. twisting the dizzy and checking the timing w/a timing light to make sure its at spec.

got it to run, idled GREAT (tensioned timing belt, fixed fuel leaks, installed new valve cover gasket) for like 5min ... drove her down the street (SMOOTH) turned left (SMOOTH) another left ... stalled. took lots of throttle to get back home and wouldnt start again. temp guage wasnt high, threw a CEL i'll read that tomorrow and maybe limp it back to the mechanic to MAKE IT WORK!! I gotta pass smog in the next like 30days

Alright. First don't stress because selling your car or even burning it won't resolve your problem. If your car runs right then does that crazy shit it means there is a good chance its sensor related. Something may be unplugged. If it were mechanical ud have ongoing symptoms. Get the cel checked out. It will probably throw you in the right direction.

500 VSS Malfunction
301 c1 misfire

at shop now they are compression testing and said I need new vss (in head swap we pulled 2 wires out of the connector the 3rd wire broke. we soldered new leads ran straight to vss pins and sealed up with silicone...)

Did they replace the valve cover seals. I would def recommend it. I had that issue when swapping my H. Cyclinder 3 misfire due to oil entering plug chamber. Keep up posted.

i replaced the cover seal, ya, with the liquid gasket in the armpits like the manual suggests... did not replace the washer/gaskets on the 5 cover bolts or the 4 sparkplug chamber seals.

they kept it overnight to run some more tests, said if i need parts that's all i'll pay for (no labor)

think they want me to stop limping up in it and move on

if u dont sell it within a couple weeks of it running well, you'll want to keep it lol. I always think about selling my car when it does shit like this, but then i drive it when it's fixed n change my mind

Lol I've had my h22 since 2004. I have wanted to abandon it, sell it, burn it, crash it, give it away but she is my baby. Now that she is down I have directed my attention on the fiance lol.

You'll be fine. Just be patient. Things always work themselves out. Btw VSS isn't that expensive to buy.
