raced a 3.0 in my 2.3 today!

well scott i just had to post this

Today scott, (clpower) came to pickup my stock bose cd player and we got in a friendly stoplight race. My 2.3 is pretty much back to stock, (since i'm trying to sell it, but it still has a short ram and dc header + 2.5" piping with a stock muffler. Well we caught a red and both were smiling and reving a little. It turned green, and I had about as good of a launch as I could get with my $40 pep boy futura tires . I'm not sure if scott had a good launch or not, and I really don't know what he has, I think just e/i, but I held him off till about 65 then slammed the brakes just so I could say I won :P But seriously I was pretty surprised, because I still probably had a full car on him when I hit the breaks, (although he was finally starting to pull) My car feels like it can't breath with the stock muffler on that piping (and sounds like shit), and it definately lost some power at high rpms, but I guess it didn't make much difference. Scott that was fun buddy! You would have pulled ahead by about 70-75 for sure. I kept thinking you were gonna pick on me on the freeway but you didn't

Oh and btw, when you asked if I missed a gear were you talking about the end when I hit the breaks?? Or were you talking about my 1st to 2nd shift when I ripped it into 2nd without barely touching the clutch? Hope you get that new cd player working quick

BTW- this is my 1st post in like 2 months cause I'm trying to sell the damn car so I can get a Z or somethin with a little balls. Plus I've been busy with college. Just wanted to post this since I saw Jamolie had a similar topic about wanting to race a 3.0. peace

I will say, you had me to about 50 and I started pulling on you fast before you slammed the brakes, you also got about a half 1/2 of a car head start putz :P

I can't afford or handle another 90 mph ticket so I layed behind you and let you be the guinea pig on the freeway.

I was talking about you hitting the brakes, that's when I thought you missed a gear.

all in all it was a fun drive, thanks for the deck. Looks like i'm gonna have to rip apart the dash to get the stock one out. ANd i'm a little worried cause yours is a different model # then mine

my mods are i/e/pulleys. but my compression is off in 2 cylinders

we'll see. I'm just pissed I lost all that cash at the casino

The Bose radio has one model number, the non-Bose has a diff model number. Same radio, diff face plate (one says Bose, woo hoo )

As far as I know, yes. From what I understand/saw/played with so far - the Bose amp just takes the amped output of the stock radio, adds it's goofy EQ shit, then re-amps the signal. Both radios have the same connectors - the Bose vehicles just have a different harness that routes all the outputs back to the trunk.

What year? If 97(mine is 97), then you only need to take off the little trim piece that surrounds the head unit and the little cubby with the door. After that, you just unscrew like two screws underneath your head unit(after you take out the cubby) and thats about it. Pretty self explanitory after you take off the trim.

So if you wanna race a pearl white 350Z then we'll do it for sure:P

Scott-yeah I did for get to mention that I was about 5 feet ahead of you from the start cause that light was a little downhill and I kept hitting the brakes, but i still started a little ahead of you. Yeah you'd of had me by like 75 and after that it would of got pretty ugly. BTW-I hear you on the ticket thing, I've already had my license suspended twice, you can probably see why

Incase you guys were wondering i GOT $10,000 FOR MY 98 2.3 5 spd. with 65K and and a 100K warrantee. It sold fairly quick too, I only had it on auto trader for about 3 weeks.

yeah bro your car looks tight. i love the paint and the rims. When we were driving i kept looking back and it looked like mine when it was slammed and had lips, only black. but now its all stock Only thing was that your emblem in the front looked kinda fucked up. did you try to paint it and it peeled off??

the muffler looks perfect!!

yea, i've just been to lazy to repaint the front emblem, it gets chipped easily. Is it noticeable when driving?

I can't believe someone bought that thing from you for 10G's, the exhaust was horrible, and that rear bumper cut out would bug the shit out of me

lol, yeah I had to cut the back bumper for when I had dual exhaust. The exhaust seriously sounds like shit tho huh? I knew it didn't sound good ever since I put that stock muffler back on the 2.5" piping, but all I can hear from the inside is the intake. And everyone that testdrove my car that was interested in buying it, never took the thing past 3k rpms . I used to get a lot of compliments on my exhaust before I decided to sell it and put the stock muffler on.

Shit besides that though, I think it's worth 10G's. The blue book was like 11,200 when I checked a few months ago. It only has 64K on it.

Duece-you're talkin bout yer hommie with the silver turbo si right?? He blew his motor again or what?? That guy was funny, I think he was lit when I met him, not sure tho?

I really hope this fucking buyer goes through. He said he's bringing me a cashiers check sometime this week, but we'll see.

yea, I just finally got a clean record so I can drive my hot rod after building it for 8 years, and I have about 9 tickets in my past one for doing 90. Don't need another one of those

If you had caught me a few years back or on an emptier less policed freeway I would of been all over it

No sorry not anymore, I posted them a long time ago, but I ended up switching it back to single for a while cause it made my slow ass car even slower. I couldn't even pull on an ex civic from a roll.
