If you're that worried about it, have him post a pic of the back of the steering wheel, and I'll tell you for sure, but as I told you the airbag would be the bigger concern and that plug is identical, what you are looking for on the back of the wheel is a circle with 2 grooves in it, I can take a pic of my 97 wheel tonight if you want. There are 2 grooves where the wheel slides into place with the steering column as long as it has those and the 2 holes seen here around the bolt hole in the middle you're good.

ive driven GSR's and dont even remember what they look like cuz theres nothing to special about them. i dont think its any different than an LS steering wheel.
im sure chris is right about the fitment, but as far as the wheel lines up straight is another issue. my EP3 does line up straight when im driving straight. but its not that big of a deal to me.

Matt, I just followed Dan's diy where he says to center the wheel before removing it, I had to charge my battery and put it on life support to start it and be able to turn the wheel to get it straight. Then like I said just had to rotate the 97 clock spring a 1/4 turn so the pegs that turn the CS lined up.

OK< here's the comparison, you can see the slots I was talking about, also note the difference in hole positions for the 2 posts that turn the clock spring, about 1/4 turn
2nd gen steering wheel
97 Steering wheel
Matt, here's mostly center, there's a tiny bit of play but it's really center

Just rewatched the vid and saw that the gsr wheel is opposite with the slots, but you can still make it work, you'll want to start with your wheel on a 90 deg, which isn't a huge deal
The good news is, the clock spring holes are there, just 1/4 turn like i said they would be
