quick question on maintenance required

alright guys, i have a quick question. first off let me say that I do the regular oil change (every 3,000 miles) and the regular maintenance...and I already got my timing belt changed when i bought the car (it is now at 71k). well, just recently (like 4 days ago) the "maintenance required" slot thingy on the dashboard, changed to yellow.

1. before the slot thingy was just normal, now it's yellow. is it suppose to be yellow? or red? i have no idea..

2. and since i do all the oil change on time, should i just ignore the "maintenance required" slot thingy? because i dont get my oil change at a dealership, so i figure the place that i got it at doesnt reset the timer for the "maintenance required" slot?

thanks for the help guys!

It's just a mechanical dummy indicator...I believe it goes on the number of miles its been since it was reset. To reset it stick your key in the little slot.
