Quick question?

I took my car to the Acura dealer to have them fix my EGR issue (insufficient flow) under the recall for 98 CL's 8yrs/80k miles.
I know many CLers have talked about this same .
This guy calls me from the service dept. telling me that my intake manifold is clogged
up and needs to be cleaned. He told me that the EGR ($400) is covered but for the
additional work it will be $99.00 plus tax. My question is, I thougt that cleaning of the
intake manifold is part of the process, am I correct? Is this guy trying to hustle me?
He also told me that my power steering fluid is black and can cause damage to other
components (an additional $99.00 ), what do you guys think? Thanks in advance!

P.S. I will tell the guy in person what's the deal and if he trys to hustle me, I'm going
to send him home with a black eye. BTW I have a copy of the EGR process at home and
I remember seeing a picture of the intake manifold being washed with soap and water with a hose. Is this what the guy is trying to charge me for? <---Sorry for the additional question.

points for whoever helps me.

That's the same thing I was thinking, but I have detailed instructions about the process and in those instructions it says to clean the I. manifold with soap and water and rinse
off with a hose. Cleaning the intake manifold that could be clogged is part of the EGR
process; however, the instructions is a Honda Accord V6 step-by-step instruction.
Should I take these instructions to the guy and show him that this is soppose to be
covered?

don't pay shit, call another dealer, if he tries to charge you tell him you talked to Acura Customer Service and they said there was no fee.

Check it, heres the deal. I called Martin (serv. fag) and told him that the intake manifold is part of the process and
that I shouldn't be liable for this. He then told me, right but your throtle body and injectors are not.
They are considered maintenance. Can the throtle body and injectors get clogged and is $99.00 to much? I have a mechanic who is awsome and does things for less but I have not asked him how much he would do them for. Plus he will want me to purchase the parts and he will charge for labor.

I thought he was at first, because I didn't clearly hear what he told me. Then when I called him
back it made sense. Does the throtle body need cleaning? I know injectors do but I thougt you
could easily do this by pouring a fuel injector cleaner in your gas tank (discount auto parts)?

The throttle body and injectors don't have anything to do with the EGR problem. Now, they may in fact be caked with crap (not likely), blah blah - but that's a diff thing all together. Tell him to fix the EGR and leave the rest alone. If you are worried about it, have your other regular mechanic take a look at it.

As for the power steering fluid, if it is black that is bad shit. Have you never changed it? Once again tho, have your regular guy do it, shouldn't be $20 more than the fluid itself. $99 is a rip. Tell the dealer to fix the EGR stuff only then suck an egg.

Dude, you know what they do to clean your throttle body and intake manifold. They just spray a can (if that) of carbuerator cleaner into it. I do this every so often when my check engine comes on for the egr problem. Just get a free EGR valve out the situation and ask for your old part. If you want to clean your intake manifold and throttle body, it will run you about 3 bucks (price of the can)...

I really don't like dealerships. I ask them gay questions just to laugh at their responses. I once asked how much to intall an intake and how long it would take. They said 300 bucks for install and it would take about 2 1/2 - 3 hours to do, LMAO!

Yeah my mechanic told me that he will charge me only $20.00 to change my power steering fluid.
As for that :ghey: I will take your advice and add my exclamation.

Assuming the discussion:
Me: " Just fix my EGR problem and leave the rest alone"
Martin: " Your throtle body and injectors need serious attention"
Me: " What did I tell you? Now do as you were told and go suck an egg! "
Martin: " Hey take it easy now young buck"
Me: " What did you say to me?" <--Before he repeats himself I give him a black eye.
Martin: " Yo, what's your problem?"
Me: "You're my problem and what you said is a problem"
Martin: "Just because I called you young buck"
Me: "Oh...my bad, I thought you said young f*ck"
