question from a newbie...

whats up peeps..
I got my silver 97 3.0CL about 3 months ago and I recently went to the circuit city near my home to get the MTX amp and subs installed.
Basically the guy was telling me I can't change my boss cd receiver unit unless I change the whole speakers and wires. I'm curious to know if anyone has changed their cd receiver unit and he/she had to change the speakers and wires as well...

Bose not boss hehe Anyway i think you can change the headunit on the CL. Some bose systems have each speaker amped as opposed to the headunit The CL has an amp in the trunk i believe You should be able to tap into it Do a search on the subject as well

I guy was FULL OF SH*T! I have a Pioneer CD play, Pioneer Eq with 2 10" Kicker Solo Barics, Kicker Amp for the subs and MB Quarts in the doors. You should just install the head unit yourself its not hard at all. I did my system my self.

Ok... here is the reason he said that.. for years BOSE was not compatibler with anything but BOSE... a 3 years ago that all changed.. they began designing FM CONVERTERS that will allow you to tap a BOSE line... I know this cause I had it done when they came out and I attached Subs to my Stock system... you can byuy an adapter for the plugs behind the radio TRUST ME!!! stop goiung to CIRCUIT CITY and go to a RADIO installer... GOOD LUCK!!

You think that's bad, the dealer wants to charge me $320 to install the factory CD changer. What are they stupid!

I've learned that dealerships SUCK for getting work done on cars. They overcharge and try to convince people that their mechanics are soehow better than the average mechanic at the corner shop. 90% of the time, that is untrue.

I've also learned that you should not take your car to a Best Buy, Circuit City type of place for custom installs. Many of their "installers" are new to the whole install thing and are just getting experioence so that they can someday go to work for a real install shop. That may sound harsh, but that is coming from some of my friends that did just that and who saw people doing that while they worked their. My bro got hired at one of those places and had never installed a stereo in his life.

stop going to the ends of the spectrum.. you cant do circuuit city and you cant do the dealership.. you gotta go to an alarm/stereo shop... you pay for what you get there!!!

I asked the dealer to inspect a noise coming from my rear tires only for them to tell me that I needed new pads. No problem, just replace them how much more could they actually be than a "normal" garage. Geez, was I in for a shock when I went back to pick up my car and they told me that I owed close to $400 to take my car out. This just for 2 pairs of rear brake pads! That was the last time that I went to the dealer for any repairs that isn't covered by the warranty, especially w/o asking how much first!

i had to change my rear brake pads one month ago, the dealer is crazy man.. dont go there.. i had my mechanic that changes my oil to do it for 30 bucks, but i had to buy the pads from the acura dealer for 6x bucks.. under 70,.. so i had it all done for under 100 total.. the dealer can suck on my smelly toes, but then again, they do give free car washes.. but is it worth two or three hundred for a friggen car wash??.

well also bose systems are a pain to replace...i forgot why..but also labor too cuz bose sets up their systems so that if you want to change something it is very hard to ...just so that they'd make it a pain to change or something...i forgot the reason but something like that
