QUESTION ON:Energy Suspension Hyperflex Kit

Hi Guys ,

I just bought this Energy Suspension Hyperflex Kit off of ebay to be install on my 98 2.3cl. As per the advise and recomendations by some folks on this forum I bought this kit, now I have a couple of questions, may be your experience in installing these kits would help my endavour in getting this installed.

Can I install this by myself??? if yes...is there a special kind of tool that I might need to purchase to be able to do this???? Is there some one here who has done this by himself, may be could give me some heads up on the issues that I might face and how to over come these?? If this can't be done by self how much should the mechanic charge for this kind of job(Remember I am replacing all the front end bushings)??? Is there a kit out there for the rear end as well??? If yes please post the link for these as I would like to change the rear end bushings as well??

Basically I doing the complete suspension job keeping everything OEM even the height, going with the KYB struts. Going by the suggestions of people on this forum also decided to change all the bushings as my car is approaching 200k miles, I guess this would be the right time to do everything.

Any inputs are welcome .

Thankx in advance.

JFK

You can do it by yourself if you're mechanically inclined. I did not want to bother with torching and busting out the old rubber ones or pressing the new ones in, so I paid my suspension shop to do all the labor, took him most of a day, so labor was pretty steep. But it was well worth it, cuz I had an ASE certified mechanic install all of them, rather than me. You will need a hydraulic press to press the bushings in and possibly some air tools to break the bolts loose.

Yeah, Energy Suspension has complete kits you can buy. Definately well worth the money and effort (if you install them yourself). I installed the complete Hyper-Flex bushing kit on my Mustang and it made a dramatic difference in my car's handling. It was a pain in the ass to install though.

I don't find them too "difficult" but its very dirty and an overall pain. Granted, I have done full bushing sets on a few cars so I kind of got the hang of it. The first set I did was miserable to say the least.

IMO, I am sure at least part of the bushing installation is not too bad and you can do those yourself.

If you are unsure, definitely take it to a mechanic because once you torch bushings out you are on jackstands till the new ones go in!

That said, it was worth it in every car I have done so far and the CL will be next. I have to finish my s14 first though. I got lazy.

I know it's an old post, but they charge a lot to install these bushings. Can't remember but I think they said 500? Maybe less can't remember. But it was way more than I was willing to pay.

So I've still got a brand new in box set of these bushings in my closet.

Wondering if I am going to be able to ghetto-press these by using a bench vise (obviously off the bench).
