Rattle in exhaust (HELP!) Quack Quack

I have a '97 2.2 CL 5spd. When I am in any gear and I drive the car from 1600 to 1900 RPMs, I hear a low vibrating sound, almost like a duck coming from the exhaust somewhere. The dealer said it was probably a loose baffle in the muffler, but before I buy a new muffler, I wanted to make sure this is where its coming from. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The crazy thing is that ONLY happens at the exact same RPM reading (1800).

If I decide to get a muffler, which would you choose for a deep, "non-ricey" sound? I was thinking Magnaflow or Flowmasters.

Check your heatshields on the underside of the body above the exhaust piping. Over time the tack welds that hold the units together fail and the sheilds start to vibrate.

I'm going to move this over to the First Gen forum... you will probably get more replies in there, and they'd be specific to your car!!

In my situation with a similar problem on my Legend it is not a continuous noise. It happens between 1400 and 2400, where the exhaust is noticably more "pulse like" once the rpm's rise the heat shields no longer attune themselves to the virbation. Hope this helps.
