pros and cons of 1999cl vs 2003cl
Hey guys, i'm new here so take it easy on me. I'm looking to buy a Acura CL. There is a 1999 CL with 118,000 miles , very clean for $4500. and a 2003 CL , very clean with 155,000 miles for $5300. Are less miles, but older model, better or worse ? Was a 2003 better built than a 1999?

welll....it really depends. are you in it for looks are modding capability? features? etc etc.
if youre in for the modding capability you might be happier with the newer model. thats only if yer into easy modding with much less custom fitting than us first genners. theres more car specific stuff with the second gen. with the first gen were having to figure out what fits (usually parts from a 94-97 accord...check the very extensive noob guide for confirmations). i know that personally ive had custom certain things to get them to fit. but for the most part ordering parts from the said accord usually works.
was 2003 better built than a 1999? well...in theory thats always gonna be a yes. in theory. but the more and more you work on your car youll always find shit wrong with it. things will go bust etc etc...i know for the 1999s we have a really bad tranny issue...although ive been fortunate enough not to experience it.
not really sure how to chime in here. hahah..its why it kinda sounds like im rambling. i think you have to figure out what you want to do with the car. race? the looks? etc etc.
personally i like the first gen because you dont see our cars fixed up very often. i get really excited when i see another first gen dumped or fixed up....ive had a lot of fun fixing up my ride. although i havent done nearly as much as some of the other first genners. if i was you...id prolly take a look at the photo galleries of both the first gen and second gen sections of acurazine. that will also give you some idea of what you want
again apologies if it sounded like i just rambled hahahah...
EDIT...
welcome to the board. im mark

Stick w the first gen. Not many on the road as it is. Dump the auto trans and look for a manual conversion. Boost it or run a 250 wet shot right down her throat. Jk. I fell in love with this car back in 1999 when I first saw one. Now that I own one I'm happy that I finally get to have a car that I wanted. Too bad I can't afford a TT Supra....
