Any ideas why my FM band works fine but all I hear is quiet static on the AM dial? And yes, I do mean accross all AM frequencies.

 

Your radio's AM reception circuit is KAPUT...

BUT I do have a solution for you. I just took out my stock BOSE radio out of my car and probably won't be needing it. PM me with an offer and I'll ship you a working HU.
