Their performance is darn close to identical. The Prelude Type-SH was what I was actually shopping for before I bought my 3.0. Acceleration, top speed, cornering, etc. are all really close. The CL wins by a long shot in luxury and comfort, however!

You guys must have something wrong with your cars!! I beat Preludes all the time... theres one around here with headers, exhaust and intake... and all I have for performance is a removed silencer, and I beat him left and right.

Guy I know has an SH Prelude w/ I/H/E, he runs 14.70s......not to be derogatory, but he doesn't have to really worry about modded 3.0CL's short of headers....

i raced this 99 sportshift prelude 3 times. i beat him 2 times. then he shot nos on me the 3rd time and only got me by half a car length. oh yea last night i was racing a older prelude 94-97 i think i beat him on the freeway buy like 5-6-7-8 car lengths.

On crack u guys,

Any 5spd prelude will take ur asses out w/a decent driver. The SH will have a harder time than the S, but still, it's alot quicker.
Sport shift ludes, I've never been in one, and those are for girls anywaiz.

As for the dude who beat the 4th gen lude, it most definately was not the VTEC version. Those are even faster than the 5th gen's.

took the words out of mouth before i spoke

however, i've beat a few lightly modded preludes. But as for walking away from them yea right. If at most i have maybe a car or so on them by 100.

the quickest ive seen a 3.0 cl run stock is a 15.6 which i read motor trend magazine and was with 30 lbs. of camera and radar equipment, a passenger and a full tank of gas. so if you run with less than quarter tank of gas and minus a passenger against a prelude , youll most likely keep up with or beat the driver

My friend has a 2000 prelude and when it had an intake and my car was stock we were the exact same speed. He now has headers, exhaust, cam gears, apex v-afc, high flow cat. I have all of the stuff listed on mine now and he barely beats me now by maybe a car length on the 1/4 mile.

Not to start a huge debate, but I am about certain the Prelude S w/ the sohc I-4 was the 130hp or 135hp version, w/o vtec.

I live in San Francisco, and my friend has a pretty riced out prelude, he doesn't have the SH, but he said he has the same engine, and basically everytime i launched, i launched harder, once vtec kicked in he basically lost, maybe it was a bad driver or what, but I thought preludes were alot faster then that.
