Pointless Mods
OK so ive been in the import game for about 3 years and there are a few mods that im not sold on. Any retailer will say anything so that they can pay there mortgage. Since i dont know 1/2 of what some of you guys know, what do u think about these mods.
1. Ground Wiring Kits,
Honsetly is there any real proof that shows any gain in a car with only bolt ons? Ive seen dyno's on 350z's and Mustang GT's, but even then you always gain 2-3 WHP on a 2nd or 3rd run on a dyno.
2. Engine Damper Kit
Ive had my eye out for this for a while because of my engine swap it seems as though the H22 rattles and shakes more than my F23. If we assume that it helps the engine to put down more power, why wouldnt the car with one stock? ANd what would be a negative to having this maybe more cabin vibrations?
3. Throttle Body Spacer
does having an extra 1-2 cubic centimeters in your TB really do anything?
OK, u can answer my questions rationally, with maybe some physics involved i think there are a few people that can benifit from it. MUCHOS!
Oh and if u want to add to my list, please do.. (no turbonator qustions please)

i read this recently about throttle body spacers
"On a carbed engine or a TBI engine they work because your giving more time for the air/fuel to atomize. However with fuel injected engines, fuel is added after the TB, so all your doing is putting another inch or two for the air to travel. Which inturn is actually robbing your system."

TB spacer definately makes small gains and I emphasize small, but they do something if that's what you're unsure of, you're not gonna get 5 hp from it, but it may free up a horse or 2.
The ground kits do something as well, the v-6-p kit dyno'd added about 5 HP to a 3.0 and 3.2 motor, I'm not convinced that a shitty ebay kit would though, i'd look more for a quality kit.
The engine damper doesn't really do much, but if you've ever watched your motor shake when it starts, or whenever you go from a stop, the damper is supposed to eliminate that, not sure if it really adds much as far as performance, I think it's more for looks. I dont' think it would make more cabin vibration, I just think the engine would be planted more firmly, and may give you a little pickup from a start since your engine isn't moving.

1. ground wire kits: no matter how you argue it, whether it shows up on a dyno or not, in my opinion a solid grounded system is extremely important. people can argue all they want, but a better grounded motor/system will give your entire electrical system a much stabler readout which includes sensors and spark which means a better performing motor.
2. engine damper kits: they do serve a purpose.
3. throttle body spacer: i would have to agree that on a fuel injected system they serve no purpose.

To answer your first question, yes, some cars do come with them stock. You will see them in higher class cars, as well as the CLS. Wheel hop will increase cabin movement/rattle, this should help in preventing it. I'd suggest filling in your mounts as well with poly urethane which you can buy at Home Depot for $5.
As for the throttle body spacers, I dont see the point. Same goes with those gaskets that are suppose to help cool down your intake manifold. Just a load of bs I havent seen real dyno's to prove otherwise.

but my opinion a torque dampener serves a purpose wheather your stock or built. a motor flexes and moves around alot. and anything that prevents wheel hop can really help you draggin on the street or track.

2] Engine damper Kits as far as i can see are used to cut down on wheel hop, reduce engine movement and cut down on the vibrations produced by the engine, mainly from the crankshaft, pistons, and cams...
3]throttle body spacers dont really serve a purpose but if u get a thermal spacer u can gain easy hp
FACT: Every 5°F reduction in temperature increases the density of the air and therefore the power by 1%.

thanks for da info.. and i like u too hornedfrog but ur avatar is fukin gross..
ghost that f22 build looks like fun, but theres a lot of tuning involved when you run setups like that. but its funny can buy ITB's for preludes used or new from $250 & up.
AND i will definatly try and be a geanie pig for the engine damper. as for the Ground cables, i dont feel like spending another $150 for ground cables..

The least you can do for an improvement in your electrical system is 2 grounds: from the block to the frame and from the neg batt terminal to the frame above headlight (for 3.0, idk about the 2.x).
I'm fabricating my own complete ground kit with 4-gauge wires, it's pretty easy... still don't have time to finish since finals is next week.

yes the I4 CLs do have that 2nd wire to right above the headlights, thats where my fog light kit is grounded
as for the grounding kits, does anybody know about the Buddy Club kits with the COndensor stuff built in... I think Apex-i has something similar too, and so does NRG... I think... im definately sure Buddy Club has the condensor things though

and can anybody tell me if a condensor system works well or not????? im actually thinking about getting one some time in he future, and I wanted to know if it would actually help
