Plus and minus of taking off Heat shield on Headers?

Anyone think this heat shield on the 2.2 and 2.3 really keeps any heat out of the engine bay?

What do you think of leaving it on vs taking it off?

dustbuster4 you have headers, if i had them, i would show it off too. But i don't, so i have to hide the ugly stock headers.

when i went to take mine off, the bolts broke cause they were rusted and stuck to the headers....so be prepared to not put em back on. but it didnt do anything to my hood, makes my engine bay look F$CKING ugly now.....check my other post (ENGINE PAINTED)

I took my heat shield off already and painted it. My bolts were fine. I eased them out while the engine was hot and with a few taps against the ratchet they freed up. Gotta be gentle though.
I may just hit it with a shot of black paint because the Brake Caliper paint I used (red) atarted to discolor due to the EXTREME heat.

I just didn't know if anyone really knew if the engine bay gets hotter or if that was a myth of sorts. I think they just put that shield there so you don't touch it, not because it helps keep temps down...
