Vafc Is In! And Better Than Ever!
Vafc Is In! And Better Than Ever!
It took about two hours, but its done. And yes, there is a VTM wire for 3.0 cl. Neidjed diagram is absolutely equal to ours except for two things. The pressure signal wire is not white/yellow. and we havea vtm wire. Aside from this I want to thank 97Acura3.0 for helping me with the info.
Also last night I had got intomy car, thought everything was running fine and decide to floor it. O wait, it stays in second gear and starts shaking, obviously a problem with the VTEC, SO I pull over and change the VTEC settings from 4800, 4500 to 3600,3500 and MAN WHAT A DIFFERENCE! I feel like the Car flies now it crazy!! I AM LOVING THIS SO MUCH!!! Is there a better setting for the vtec engagement?

glad you got it installed
niedjeb said that when you lower the engagement you also need to increase the fuel.
i have mine set now at 4100 and 4000 and have the wide throttle at +3 for 4k +4 for 5k +5 for 55k and +5 for 6k all on the hvt
on the lvt, i have the wide throttle set at -3 for 3k +2 for 4k +2 for 5k
i did all of the testing in 3rd gear, and i kept increasing the fuel until it started to cut off and then i backed down 1
i chirp third EVERY time now with these settings and the bottle off
with the bottle on, my 3rd gear is a monster and i pull away from gt stangs, no joke

hey man lucyax, nice to see that i helped out, i didnt think there was a VTM wire but ok. sorry i was not able to get the pics to you soon enough but nice job. hey you have a3.0 and so do i but hey i have mine set at 4300 and i dont have any fuel correctiuon and it flow baby. i gas it full throttle and i engage vtec in first, second and third even when shift the vtec does not get disengaged. i think it is cool try 4300 and try no fuel correction see if it work it does for me.
yeah hey where did you mount it at? i got my on the steering column
also was it the odyessy diagram that worked? let me know i want to make some instruction for the 3.0s that will help others with installing them.
you will have lots of fun getting onto the freeway and merging onto traffic cause everytime i get onto the freeway and engage the vtec i have heads tuning to see what the ruckas is. i love my vafc and i would love to welcome you to the family, the vafc family i mean. you will not regret you got one and i recommend one to everyone on the forum.
Lucyax: hey how would you explain you vafc, i tell people its like a poerban for a motorcycle and its an instant boost of power and torque. i love my vafc and i hope you do the same and hey i got a cover my mother made for mine and i will make one for people if they want one, its just balck and like a soft felt sort of , so it wont scratch your vafc.
if anyone wants one i will see how much the fabric will cost me and i am telling you now it is not a professional job but hey it work and i like it. well let me know and goo luck with your vafc and hey man takes pics of where you put it and you engaging the vtec, i have one of mine and i want a fly by picture soon i will have a video of me engaging the vtec on the street in 1st throiugh 3rd i say this was the best investment i mad considering mine was free

oh well that is another story but if you want to know just ask.

u guys think it would make a difference in my car??( check sig for mods). And how is the install?? any cutting or modifications to the wires at the ECU? Can the VAFC be removed when i sell the car?

Yes you have to cut wires at the ecu.
Yes you can remove it and rejoin the wires.

how much performance is expected if any??
You will gain throughout the rev range more so than max hp or torque. Hard to quantify.
My brothers prelude gained 0 max hp and torque, but gained from 3100 to redline. Some areas > 25 hp.
He also gets better gas mileage on his lo throttle map since Hondas are notoriously rich.

thanks niedejb.....i will definatley consider one. A local performance shop here is Apexi licenced tuners but they want around 200 to tune it on the dyno......wonder how much install is. The 2.3 ECU is different than the 2.2 so they might know how to better than me. I figure i would have to spend around 300 for the VAFC, 100 install and 200 tuning. Thats 600 bucks. Thats why im asking questions to see if it worth shelling out 500-600 bucks for it. get what im saying. Thanks for the imputs..!
hey can anyone give me exact what the 3.0 works well with i tried my fuel correction myself today and it didnt improve that much i still liked it stock but anyone with it on a 3.0 besides me and lucky tell us if you have the fuel correction and how well it works and how much you rised or lowered it in what rp, ranges. thank for the help and lucky i look forward to pics soon.
hey i was wondering if anyone has done it at all for the 3.0 cl? i want to dyno it but i cant yet i want to get my pullies from PRadnski or some money to compensate me for the money i lost so i can get it dynoed.
