We the undersigned demand the immediate stop of movies, television shows, and all media that gives the impression that import and sport compact enthusiasts are criminals. The movie Fast and the Furious and its sequel 2 Fast 2 Furious has caused an explosion in police force cracking down and profiling members of our community. This is becoming an invasion of our privacy when the majority of our community are law abiding citizens and do not participate in illegal activities relating to our vehicles. These media productions give the impression that we are all thieves, gang members, drug dealers, street racers, and many other implied stereotypes. Being pulled over for no obvious reason is humiliating and demeaning and gives other motorists the impression that we are perpetuating the negative actions that they see in the media without understanding the situation. This and other actions are labelling us in a severely negative light. This must end now. Stop Profiling Sport Compact Enthusiasts.

i think your weird for bringing this up! most of us maybe are thieves, gang members, drug dealers, STREET RACERS, and many other implied stereotypes. but i will sign your petition because i do get tired of getting pulled over!

 

This petition is pretty pointless. If the movies have influenced these type of stereotypes, the damage has already been done. What does it matter if hollywood stops making these types of movies?

Helloooooo. Profiling drivers has been going on for a long time. You draw attention to yourself by modifying your car and then complain when the attention drawn happens to be the police???

That's just ignorant.

 

Alot of people modify the cars for "show" to get heads turned...in attracting pedestrians you will also attract cops, can't have one without the other.

It's almost like those girls who dress "provacatively" in the clubs wondering why they get the attention from "freaks."

 

Put very nicely. This petition is stupid. It is a movie man, calm down. This is like that stupid arguement about the Sopranos portraying all Italians as mafia kingpins. What you see on TV and the Screen is all bullshit, lets just leave it at that.

Secondly, I am wondering if you are one of those people that tries to ban rap music because it makes people do things of that nature, and think the same way.

You seem to be a very lonely person who needs to go uot and have some fun. I ahve an idea, go WATCH the Fast and the Furiopus 2, it is actually a pretty funny movie.

 

Good. Pull those fucking ricers over, give them numerous tickets for bullshit. Its stupid, and I hope them and Street racers get cracked on 100% more after that movie. Its bullshit when some innocent person gets killed because some 16 yr old thinks he can race his Civic DX thru traffic invincibly. Your petition is gay and will never work.

 

I like those movies because they piss off the rednecks. I would much rather see EVO's than mustangs in movies.

 

Granted, there were more cops at all the movie theaters in Pittsburgh on opening night, than in our Strip District (our infamous string of nightclubs downtown.) But see, here is the deal, we hook up our rides so people will notice us, and then we complain when they notice it too much. If we go flying down the parkway going 90 in an orange car with huge rims and a spoiler so big it looks like you could take off, we're bound to be "under a microscope"- it's like a gun...use it responsibly and no one gets hurt!

It is already illegal to be pulled over for no reason. If this happens or has happened to you, then you have a legitimate harassment complaint against the police. But I doubt this is the problem. If you get pulled over, it's probably because you were speeding or otherwise driving like a maniac.

If you think this petition is going to do anything, then you are nuts. That movie made like 124 million its first weekend- good luck with that.

 

You always have to watch your back, I'm sure most of have done pretty dirty things in our cars, but I agree....some kid with a yellow Cavalier and a generic garbage can sized resonator that sounds like someone farting in a trumpet deserves to get his ass pulled over...

 

Kids with fast cars are always going to get harassed! Our dads and their muscle cars, their fathers with the t-buckets. Its a part of growing up. Look at past movies with James Dean.. How is Fast and the Furious or any other movie any different from past movies???
