Please Help Me!
Last night was by far the most horrible night in my years in driving. As I posted before my battery light recently turned on. when i got home I was quick to put the battery charger on.
About 4 hours later i drove to my girlfriends house with no problems. On my way home shit started up again. All at once as I slowed down to an intersection, all of my interior lights dimmed, my radio shut off, clock shut off, speedo and tach shut off, and my driving lights shut off. So at 9:45 at night i am driving god knows how fast with no lights on... Not good. As I presumed to drive with my emergency flashers on my car started jolting back and forth (I presume due to the VTEC). It was only seconds before my car died. I have a jumper (this is a charged box that doesnt need another car to jump) and I had the same problems the whole way home. When i got home I hooked the charger back on and noticed it was hardly pulling power at all. So it leads me to this as well.. Probably not the alternator. Why? Because every so often when i hit the lock button while leaving my car I get short shock. This could leave me to beleive that there is a short somewhere.. The question is where? Or is it something else. PLEASE HELP ME!

I'm voting for the alternator...........same shit happened to my in my other car........dirving all of a sudden radio went, lights dimmed, all of a sudden no power steering, and car finally dies while I'm driving..........coasted to a stop.
i still say your alternator when your alt. is not charging you car runs off the battery when the battery goes dead every thing goes dead just like what you said if you were driving in the day you would have been fine but at night with the lights no way !!
Is there like a battery that is good for systems as well? Cause I know my amp is pulling hard. Dustbuster: Thanks alot man this was just a different problem.. those alternators look good! thanks for the link

NOT SO LUCKY
Thank you all so much for your help, and your right it was the altenator. I juiced my battery up and somehow made it to my advanced auto parts store. As soon as he opened the hood he says "I bet you $50 that its your altenator." I asked why, he simply pointed to my power cable. So hear I sit with my car parked in front of my friends house (I couldn't make it home
) and a $250 bill sitting in front of me just as I am about to buy my 17" katanas.
I am 2 seconds from selling my amp and subs as well. Yet here is what I want to know... Just like dustbuster, if I put a 180 watt altenator in is it gonna help? Or is my amp gonna drain it again. first and foremost I feel screwd that I paid $155 for a damn capacitor in the first place!!! So what do you think? Sell it or will I be fine? THANKS AGAIN EVERYONE!

O yeah, and why is this not happening to all the other people with systems that I know? they even have a bigger amp!

For me, it really sucked when I had the A/C blasting, at night with the lights on, the fog lights on, my amps (yes at the time I was running two 1400 watt amps), and the CD changer running, and while sitting at a stop light, the cooling fan kicks on, and my lights dim!
I mentioned this to my brother-in-law who said I should get a 2nd battery or a higher amp alternator. I took his advise (he's and electrician by trade, and trained as a mechanic in the military) and got the 180 amp alternator.
No more dimming lights!

I'm not sure what the alternative(s) may be.
