Pinstriping On Cl

Heyy guys im 17 and just got my first car.. a 99 3.0. Its all white, and i was thinking that something along the lines of a thin blue pinstripe would look good along with the blue HID's i plan to install. I was wondering if any of u have any experience with this sort of thing and if so if you have any pictures.
Thanks
Tom

Welcome to the forums!
I also got my 3.0 when I was 17. Amazing first car.
I don't really like cars with pinstripe (along the sides if that's what ur talking about) but if you want pinstripe, I would get that done professionally.

When did you get your car? Any plans for her?
ohh and pics ASAP!

i think black pinstriping would look kinda cool, but i would definitely hire a pro it would be a tough DIY job.

i'm gonna have mine striped when i get it repainted. if you can find an actual pinstriper that would obv be best. you can also get the vinyl ones.

Pinstripes can look real good on a CL but it's tough to pull off. I remember an old member had nice silver pinstripes down his black CL. I wouldn't recommend blue but thats my preference

Pin striping is really pretty easy to do...

When I first got my CL my dad and I put some silver pinstriping on... (I've since taken it off)

But all you have to do is stick it to the front, pull it to the end of the car or wherever you want to end it, and then have the other person apply it, so its straight... Then cut it where the door is and handle and tuck it in the door on each side. We also got fancy with it and made it come together at the front like pro pin stripers.. pin stripe cost like 2.50 or something and lasted about a yeat till I took it off... Save some money and DIY! haha

Welcome. Like these guys said, they make vinyl strips on rolls. As for hids, do you mean a real plug in hid kit or are you talking about blue bulbs?

When I got my car it had gold on top and silver on the bottom... most of it has faded off. However, when I get the car repainted I'm getting black on top and silver on the bottom, but thinner.

If it's executed correctly (IE: matches the theme of the car, goes with the lines of the car, etc), pinstriping can look great. But if it's not in the right place, or it's two thick or thin, it just looks terrible.

Haha! Indeed. You might want to leave now and save yourself if you don't plan on doing anything crazy to the car.

You don't need to get a professional to install plug 'n plays. You can do it yourself using our DIY!

plug n plays are super super easy, theres at least one diy on here, probably more. i definitely wouldn't pay someone to do it, id say its pretty hard to mess up.

Well, if you get bixenon HIDs, then your high beams will also be HIDs. My high beams still work, but they're just the stock halogen bulbs. Honestly though, I never use my high beams now, but it's up to you if you want to shell out the extra dollars for it.

don't let us scare you; it's a subjective styling thing and if you want to go for it, then by all means; i just find that the CL crowd tends to like a cleaner look in regards to modifying their car (to match the sleakness and simple/subtle look of the CL).

just make sure it's tastefully done and you won't catch any flak. and if you're all about the all out fast and furious look then SHAME ON YOU, but props for making ur own decision =p

I'm more into the cleaner look but the pinstriping woudn't make it look bad at all if you do it right. I say go for it if you really want to do it.

Honestly, I don't see how a pinstripe isn't clean. Granted I've seen them on CL's that it didn't work, but if you follow the line of the CL it's nothing more than an accent, you guys act like he's painting neon pink racing stripes on his hood and roof or something. Bottom line is it's your car and if you're modifying it you should do it to YOUR liking. If you have a plan or a look you're going for don't be discouraged, people laugh at a lot of people's mods by themselves but when they see them incorporated into a theme their opinions magically change cuz someone pulled off a look. A pinstripe aint shit, and you can work with it.
