No more scratches thanks to the dumbass who walked on my car and had to pay to have it repainted.
If you get the pinstrips off and there are marks get so goof off or bug and tar remove or something that will take the glue off and remove marks and the wash and wax the car and it should be fine.

try parking in the sun and letting them heat up. then use a razor to get it started and slowly slowly try to peel them off. after ur done u will have to use rubbing alchol on a rag or something to get the glue residue off. if its a dark car i wouldn't bother. the paint will be a diff color under them and ull have to wait a while for it to fade.

NO NO NO ... do not use a razor blade!!!!
If they have been on the car for like 2 years... be very careful. Otherwise u can do one of 2 things. When dry, peal and use cleaner wax afterwards (maguires red bottle). Or try to do it after rain. The stripes should be wet and the adheasive moist. Will do the least amount of damage when the adheasive is moist and easier to peel off. Than use cleaner wax.

thanks, but no razor blades get near the car. also, they've been on the car since 97 but these stripes aren't just stuck on. I also appear to have an extra layer on the back side panels from the stripes on down - kind of like a clear bra.
here's the drill:
my girlfriend drove through a vat of spilled tar on the highway and it's taken me two weekends to get it back in shape. the dealer took care of most of the painted surfaces before I even knew about it. in the whole process of tar remover, clay bar, polish, etc some of the pinstriping has been rubbed pencil thin. I was thinking of using scratch-x or something else to rub them all off but don't really want to screw it up or expose the line on the back panels where the protective layer stops.

A flat razor blade will work. Just use it to get a little of it up and then pull it off slowly. If you angle the blade right you wont hurt the paint at all. Take your time too. But if you rather not thats your choice.

I don't know about anyone else but my pin stripes are painted on, at least they sure look like they are from real up close. I've seen the stick-on type, they were on my old Honda and these are definitly not those type. I wish i could get mine off but I'm not willing to start scraping.
Anyone else have these types or what?

Yeah, mine are painted on too. I would never get the stick-ons! I guess the advantage is that you can remove them later, but it sounds like everyone has had a lot of trouble with that. Painted pinstripes look better and last longer, in my opinion.

Stick-on stripes on a CL? Yeah, I know why all these cats are trying to remove them...
I also just have stripes on the sides of my car, I've seen ones that have the stripes go all the way around the trunk, ughh, I don't like that at all.
