i think he just cut down the length of the shifter, the length of the throw is probably still the same

i'll take pics of my lude shifter tomorrow....shorter length AND throw....i love it

cut the bend out, meaning cut the top part off without the bend, whats left will be the bottom part with the bend still there, then just cut the bend off of the bottom part leaving just a short piece of that part, now you'll have two straight pieces, use a small piece of steel (that i got from home depot) that the two pieces will fit snugg into and connect them using that piece. lemme know if you understand

so how much of a difference does a short shifter make?

what's that shorter throw stuff? does it still shift smooth?

you need new bushings to get the shorter throws

i would recommend getting nuew bushings anyways when you do this

and its a little too short for my tates but then again i have a slowmatic

its not all performance, i hate how mine sits a foot out of the boot.. short shifters look cool and perform nicely without problems... its a big difference tho

my boy sut the shifter on his old celica gts and it was by far the shortest throw i have ever driven out of any car. it made the throws of the s2k feel like they were long. cheap and good way to take the short shifter approach.

the prelude shifter from the 92-96 prelude plus the shifter adapter for that model car cuts shift about 50-55% i measured. I have both on my car.

yeah, i just have the lude shifter and i'm going to get the adapter soon but even with the lude shifter alone it is muuuuch better both appearance wise and performance

so the shifter is just shorter, its not a short throw shifter.

Correct...but this does reduce the 'throw'. The distance your hand has to travel to put a shorter shifter in to gear is less than a taller one. Its all about the arc length...But indeed...this is not a true short throw shifter. I was gonna do this someday, but I'm too damn lazy

Is the wood trim around the console custom or does it come with the 98 or 99 CL?

This is a 98,99 thing, they came in both the base and premium models.
