PERFECT GPS Double Din Car deck/usb/sd

Hey guys, i'v been looking at those for a while, and finally, they made something i wanted!!

Look at that!

The Pioneer AVIC-F700BT

http://woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuse...roduct_ID=6825

Its the lowest priced of the 3 models. I can get it for 649.00$ Canadian!! And my girlfriend works at Bestbuy, so she can have a discount on it! It has all the options and all the same specifications exept the DVD player and the Gforce sensor (accelometer, like the new iPhone!). but for almost half the price, i think i can afford not to take it. Plus it looks less shiny, lol.

Why is it finally what i was looking for? It has only 1 drive, the CD player drive (mp3 and divx and blah), but the GPS doesn't run with a dvd/cd, its built in the deck itself! So you can listen to your music and use the GPS all at once. Next, it has a SD card slot ( i have a ton at home :-) AND a USB input!! So there is no need for a DVD drive, just take my portable harddrive, and put all the movies i need in there!

This is the Middle range model, sells for arround 1000$

Pionneer AVIC-F900BT

and this is the highest model, Pioneer premiere, same as the 900BT exept this one comes with the a/v cable, lol.

Pionner Premier AVIC-F90BT

So, what do you think guys, should i just go with the 700BT? or should i pay more and get the 900. Keep in mind that Bestbuy doesn;t sell the 900, so i have no extra discount. And i have to buy it online, and ship it to canada!

does it have detachable face?

that's one of the few things that kept me from going double din or the carpc route, especially with the fact that the 97's have the horrible bezel design that makes theft basically a walk in the park....

Allright, i'v read some reviews and the main problems AFTER THE FIRMWARE FIX is the slow booting, although the music starts playing after a few seconds, you have to wait around 90 seconds to use the other features (i guess its like a computer!)

And there is some issues with the bluetooth phone feature, where the person that talks to you, can't hear you very well.

I think its worth the money, and pioneer seems to listen to the customers and is fixing the problems with new firmware.

I think i might go with the 900 series. for 779$ http://www.dbuys.com/product/?51298&...28703836&sk1=1

Just use a cloth or something to cover it up while ur gone, or get some tints! I dont have to worry about my car being stolen or broken into in montreal :P although is still happens, but i dont live in those areas where it does. And double din is soooooo much more pimpin

my single din unit has a usb input too, i thought the same thing, to just hook up a harddrive, but with mine it didn't work, it wouldn't read the hard drive, i suspect because of the formatting it has cuz of it's capacity(over 32GB of storage is a different type of disk formatting), so i have to run 8GB flash drives. And it won't play the video files from the flash drives in dolby digital etc... so just research it as much as you can before you buy it, one of the best resources is to find the user manual in a pdf, and search it for things the HU can't do. anyways good luck with the purchase, not my kind or style of double DIN, but at least your not still running the factory HU

Thats because the link redirected you to Pioneer.eu (european site) instead of .com

I think i'v read a review about portable harddrive being used. I can't find it now, i might send an e-mail to pioneer or something. Because if i can, i dont need the DVD player.. and even then. The most a dvd can take is 8 gigs with double layering. An SD card can take 8 gig easily too, and is reusable.

I saw one of these last week (not sure what model, it was 950.00) First impression, DD means the possibility of a large screen, this is giving up too much screen space to controls, second it felt flimsy.

I am very happy with my Kenwood DDX 7019 and it's 6.95" screen.

I just put a shitload of stuff in my friends 02 CLK 430, one of the items being the F700BT. To remedy the DVD issue I simply put a PS2 in. We put in 6.5" kappa perfect components in the front of the doors, 4" infinity reference in the rear of the doors and 6.5" perfects in the rear deck. Alpine 4ch, rockford 800w mono, two 10" Type-E's, cap, and loads of dynamat. The F700 sounds just like your typical pioneer, no difference between it and you other pioneer decks. The only thing I don't like about it is how slow it is on startup... it will take 30s - 1min+ before it is fully operational and reacts to commands promptly. As for the bluetooth it works flawlessly. And I am not sure if this came with the firmware upgrade, we did not check at all... but it is definitely irritatingly slow. If your GF works for bestbuy, you can get the F900 on discount also. I'd throw up the prices but you live in canada, not the same as USD haha. Just if you are going to be cage mounting the unit or want a trim ring, you NEED to order the cage kit (ADT-VA133)... Have her order that for you, ripoff to buy it retail and it can be special ordered on discount. The F700/F900 do NOT come with the cage or trim ring and can only be iso mounted out of the box... That stuff comes in the cage kit. The only problem with cage mounting it in a 1G CL is that it is going to look retarded since you will need to mod the dash kit, the cage kit is slightly larger than a DD.

I put a new Kenwood flipout w/ Garmin nav into an 02 F350 tonight... very nice sound and the nav is flawless of course. But between the two I still would choose the F700 or F900. The Kenwood also has to "boot" but it takes significantly less time than the Pioneer... however no sound plays during this bootup.

I have a DDX 7019 Kenwood/Garmin in my CLs, you just made me realize another benefit to my remote start. The 15-30 second boot is long over by the time I get in the car.
