People with intakes in their 3.0...
I'm definitely going to get an intake, but don't know where to start with it. Which intake model does the 3.0 engine use? I'm looking to get either the AEM CAI or AEM CAI V2 (what's the difference?). Anyone know a good spot to buy from? What's a good price to buy it for? Will I "really" need a bypass valve? And also, if it's not too much trouble, could ya post pics if you got some? Thanks, sorry for the burst of questions

Intake is all the same shit. It's just hollow 3" piping with an air filter on the end. Name brands charge lie 300 and the only difference is that it comes with a sticker that says aem or injen. They have some pretty nice intakes on ebay for really low prices. I'd just get one of those. Only bad part is that they don't have a carb legal sticker.

I got on ebay, i knew i wanted a CAI so i started looking for some...i found a CAI from a guy called CosmoRacing (on ebay) and i got the CAI for $100 + a pypass valve for $50....my works fine and i love it! Im going to put a K&N filter on it later....but yea, as far as what Blo2ck said...hes right...save some $ and get somethin easy

i have an aem cai on my 3.0 and live in cali. Didn't have a problem passing smog, and the guy didn't even bother looking at the sticker....he said if it passes it passes, if not then we go again.

I have the AEI short ram, was a little concerned going with the CAI....due to some horror stories I have seen. Got the AEI for 94-97 V6 just needed to drill one small hole to mount the bushing and it works fine....love the sound you get with the shorty...go to http://members.cardomain.com/jayrr you will see a pic of it.

AEM:
1) Carb Legal
2) K&N filter
3) Maximized power...I guarantee you they did more research than generics
4) Looks better
I had a generic before. I jimmy rigged that shit up. My butt dyno didn't notice a big difference when I switched to AEM. But for one thing, I was no longer ashamed to open my engine bay up for people to see.

True on the looks.
I 've never believed that there's a dramatic difference between tube designs. Realistically, what's 1-3 HP really bring you in a race or at the track. A head wind can eliminate any HP gains made when you're looking at less than a 5 HP from a mod.
I'm not too proud of my generic CAI's looks, but it certainly has performed as intended. A K&N filter can improve any generic's performance.
I'm going to get an AEM when I get the nitrous work done. I won't need the nozzle hole that's in my current CAI.
I'm gonna get the AEM because it looks better (I want the one-piece look).

Yea, i heard the same....although i didnt know about the BS when i got mine, but also,i'd rather be safer then sorry. ANyway, from what i heard, it is BS because how they had the demenstration setup, the cone was in a fishtank and the bypass valve outside the water, they showed no water getting sucked up but thats because air wasnt trying to be sucked up from the cone like ours would be when their under water...i donno..but then again, that kinda dosnt make sence and they seem right, in someway the bypass valve dosnt seem like BS...i donno...ive heard both yes and no...

How come nobody metioned the Injen?? Injen has more hp gains for about the same price. Does anyone know if the injen cai for the v6 98+ accord fits on the 3.0's? I know the shortty does. I have been looking at various dyno charts on aem vs injen and on the new RSX, the injen adds more hp throughout almost the entire powerband, and at its peak it adds 9 hp over the aem! Who said every intake is created equal at the begining of the thread???

The Injen duno run was 8 degree cooler (outside air temp) than the AEM. You gotta wonder how much influence that had on the results.
I've had moderate ET differences on the track, simply due to cooler temps.

I have the Weapon R Dragon intake - short Pipe. I like the sound of it best, but you do get a good boost. I pick this one because of the Chrome pipe, rather than the colors you get with the other brands. I just checked there site and it looks like they don't have the same one I have anymore, but they do have these....
