passenger axle change question

I'm going to change my passenger axle in a 5spd. I was wondering if anyone one knew about how much transmission fluid would leak out. I dont want to flush all the fluid, i just want to fill what was lost.

when I got both the axle's replaced on my 2.3cl auto, I remember I had ro replace the seals as the tranny fluid started leaking all over so make sure that you buy that in advance and force your mechanic to replace that....as for the fluid keep 2 quarts handy.....you might atleast need half a quart cause some amount will come out if you can measure it then replcae what came out...if not then just eye ball it....but fluid will definatley come out...... if you are at it...i would recommend replace both the axles....just would save time from making another trip......cauise if one goes the othre will follow................

later

just as reference, i changed my passenger axle(changed my driver side about 2 months ago). About 1/3 quart of fluid came out. I got the fluid at the honda dealership and it was about $8 per quart

FWIW, more fluid will come out if the car is jacked up in the front as opposed to using a lift. I can remember a negligible amount of fluid coming out on my 5 speed accord when I jacked up on the front. Get a bottle of Honda MTF and always replace the axle seal on the transmission, self locking nut on the damper pinch fork bolt and cotter pin on the lower ball joint!
