parking brake light????

What up fellas? I'm a newbie to the group. I have a 99 2.3 CL. But I've been having some problems with my emergency brake light. Often times when I start the car, the brake light in the dash board will be on. Usually after driving a little, it will go off. Then it will just come back on at other random times. I checked the fluids and I don't think that the cap is bad. If you guys got any suggestions or if anyone else had the same problem, let me know. Thanks a lot.

Mine did the same thing for a while. Even though the brake fluid in the resevoir was between the min/max lines topping it off with just a ounce maybe of fluid made the light turn off. I just went thru the identical issue on my friends '97 sentra, also at the proper level, a touch more turned off the light.

a few of us on the TL side are having the same issues...must be something about the brake fluid and the low temperatures.

check the brake fluid....also dont just ignore it...honda cars, when a alternator is going bad the brake light or the abs will come on...happen on all the honda i've own and a few friends...so to be on the safe side take ur car to autozone and ask them if they can check out if u're alternator is ok.

It's just brake fluid, not brake LIGHT fluid . That's almost as funny as blinker fluid

well bubble intrusion is when u get bubble in ur break line...but if so u would just feel a sluggish break. to fix that u would need to bleed the break line.

I had the same problem about a month ago. I heard several things that it can be...

1. The cl has some sensors that usually go bad on the brakes.
2. Carmax told me that there is a sensor on the master cylinder?
3. Something is obstructing the switch under the ebrake handle

and

4. (This is how mine got fixed)...After taking my car 3 times back to carmax because the damn brake light kept on coming on, The geniuses discovered that my master cylinder was "leaking slowly".

I dont know if that was the real problem with my car since they lie alot but it did make the brake light go away.

i just bought some brake fluid and topped it off. I'll wait and see if that fixes it. If not, I'll replace the brake master cylinder. And if that doesn't fix it, I'll consider replacing the brake pads because they are a little worn. Thanks for the help.

I think b4 you replace master brake cylinder, or the pads. Replace the cap! Its a $2 experiment. That fixed my problem. It was doing it for a couple of weeks, and my mechanic buddy at Sierra Acura did it for me. Works fine.

am i the only person on this board that knows youre not supposed to "top off" your brake fluid? if your brake fluid is low that means either you need brakes or theres a leak...topping it off puts too much fluid in the system and then when you compress the calipers when youre changing the pads it forces what fluid is in the lines back in the resivoir, which then will overflow if youve "topped" it off and as most of us know paint and brake fluid dont mix, leaving ugly streaks in the paint, etc under the hood

My parking brake light started coming on for no reason last Wednesday. Brakes had been fine until then. Thursday night my brakes lost all pressure and I had to drive 20 miles home on the expressway with almost no brakes. Haven't figure dout the problem yet, but definitely don't ignore it.

Mine used to do that when it was cold out and I first start it. Would go away after like 10 mins of driving...

My experience with this problem...I had the same problem with the light coming on. never really paid much attention to it.
Few weeks later my brakes seem very very spongey and soft and cant drive fast because of dangerous brakin. Anyway, I brought it to a shop and come to find out there was a leak in the line connectin to the left rear brake caliper. Had that fixed and everythin was back to normal.
Check to see if there's any fluid comin out of 'any' line.
