Park and Neutral

I just got home from a little drive. I noticed a funny noise coming from the engine bay. It only happens when it is in park, and neutral. when in reverse and in gear, no problem. Sounds like something rotating and grinding/rubbing on something metal. like imagine one of those huge fan blades in the vent. system in the movies where the good guy has to pass through or get chopped to pieces.

any ideas?

I think it might be the tranny! Mine did the same thing. Listen to it more carefully and you might notice that the noise is coming from the tranny.

i'm not sure exactly where it is. I thought it was a fan until touched the blades and they were fine. If it has anything to do with the tranny, I would bet on the torque converter. when it gets cold at night, it takes forever to "lock in" when I'm driving home from work.

thats because the fluid is cold. that slippage is the fluid not being pumped thru the servo's fast enough to lube the clutch plates. let the car warm up for bout 2-3 min before u drive when its cold out.

mine does the same, I find when the car is warm it doesn't do it as much. I currently am changing tranny fluid on every other oil change. It's weird that we all have the same problems, we need a lawyer to talk to acura

When my distributor was going out it made this grinding, squeeky noise. Took me forever to figure out what it was.
