well...

I suggest not taking the calipers off, just follow these steps and when you get ready to paint, simply spray some on a small piece of cardboard and paint the caliper with a small paintbrush... it is a lot easier and does a better job... All you need to do is pull off your tire, brush down the caliper with a steel wool pad (do not scrub the rotor) & commence to painting, just try not to get paint all over the place, especially your rotor... Hope that helps...

Here's what I did:

1) Bought a can of 900 degree Red Brake Caliper Spray Paint
2) Put my car on jack stands
3) Removed Wheels
4) Cleaned and scrubbed calipers with wire steel brush
5) Covered everything except calipers with masking tape and newspaper
6) Sprayed about 5 or 6 thin layers of paint waiting about five minutes in between each layer
7) Waited one hour after last coat was applied
8) Put wheels back on

Hope this helps

I left the calipers on the car after pulliing the wheels.

I used "VHT hi performance Brake Cleaner solvent".

Then I used 'KRUD Rust Remover and Inhibitor" and a wire brush.

Sprayed off all calipers with water, and let dry.

I then masked-off all areas that I didn't want painted.

Then painted with "VHT Brake Caliper, Drum & Rotor" spray paint (several light coats, one after the other).

I avoided painting the brake lines, brake pads, and rotors.

Turned out great!

Good Luck!

I will be painting mine black soon.. I dont want my calipers to stand out too much. Black will give a classy look.

I have done my freids calipers and I removed the whole caliper from the car and let it dangle by the brake lines. I masked everything off because of overspray and I got a really even coat of paint. Dunstbuster4 : If that worked out for you, I will probably save myself alot of work .....

Yeah, it worked well without removing the caliper.

I painted mine black, because I didn't want the to detract from (overpower) my cross-drilled/slotted rotors. Plus, with my car being green, red and blue weren't an option. I didn't want them yellow or silver, so I settled with black.

You can tell they're painted, but it doesn't scream "LOOK AT ME"!

Actually, the brake caliper paint I got was only 4 or 5 dollars at Pepboys.

I have a red car and the red calipers accent it very well.
