Hey guys i was wondering if my paint job is stock from acura or if the owner before me repainted it. It is black but it has blue in it like when you look at it in the sun its got blue in it. Kinda wierd but i was just wondering and does anybody know where i can get touch up paint for it? i got some chips and things

I have the same color. Touch up you can get from a dealer. (~$4-5)

Generally black is black and you can get touch up anywhere. I don't think acura made any blue flake black, so don't know what to tell ya about that....

To see if it's been painted before...check for overspray in the engine compartment. Anything near a seem should give ya a clue, especially where the fenders bolt to the frame rails. Might be able to find overspray on anything that would have been masked off: lights, trim, etc. Sloppy painters will hit the tailpipe and tires.
Check under the bumpers for dull paint. It's a pain to get under there with a gun. Some painters will just skip it.

Another big clue is when your color is NOT STOCK

actually i have noticed that on my cl as well. not very often but at the right angle in the sunlight. i dont think it was intended to be any blue flake paint job. dont know the explanation but im sure its not that! btw welcome to the board!

I have always thought that my cl is really really really dark blue, but my friends asay that it is Black, what am I to do?

yeah the 97 flamenco black pearl has blue flake in it. my friends black lude was the same way.

yup mine too. all 97 blacks have it that i know of. im thinking of having it painted just black though since it really needs a paintjob. what color black are the new cls? paint code? anything

yeah i think its black with some blue in it... how much is a pretty good paint job all black??

not sure. although there is a place around here called 1 Day Paint and they seem to be highly regarded but yet are VERY cheap. they ahve some of the cars thye ahve painted featured in Import Tuner and Car Craft and I guess are no offliated with nascar.

Just check in the door jam...driver's side i think...for the paint code...order it from the dealer with that code...simple as that...if there is no code, then i can't help ya.

I love the 97 black. If you get a good polish on it, you will see more hints of the blue fleck. I think it looks tight
