Paint Job?
has anyone gotten a paint job done on their car?
I am thinking about possibly getting my 97 3.0 painted black??
whats the average cost for a paint job and how do they usually come out?

I'd think blackest is the hardest (shows the most imperfections), but I've never heard of one color being more then another unless it's special paint

The color do range in price the most expensive he ever used was House of Kolor Kameleon paint like red to gold and that was 250 or something like that for a pint. Neons are like 30-40 something per quart. More normal colors are 20-30 per quart. Then if it need flakes or pearls then u gotta add that.

Pigments in paints are the single most variable cost raw material. Reds are always expensive, organic, difficult to grind. Bright yellows are also nasty. The lighter the colour the more pigmentation required and the higher the cost of this raw material. (I used to formulate paint six years ago) Blacks require the least pigment, obviously and it's carbon black.

We start paint jobs around $3000 with door jambs and hood and trunk jambs, wet sanded and buffed, price gets higher on some cars depending on how good the body is (dings, dents, rust, etc...) Go to a regular body shop and expect to pay $4,500 to $6,500 that's if they'll even do it, most shops won't touch a full paint job unless you know them or it's insurance work.
