Is the paint on all Acura's garbage
I have a 99 2.3 CL, a 96 Integra (My Finacee's, a 91 Corvette Convertable and recently sold a 97 Eclipse GS-T. My question is this are Acura paint jobs crap or did i just get bad luck. I had my eclipse for over 5 years and the paint looked new when i sold it. My vette is 13 years old with orginal paint and i just won a trophy in a car show two weeks ago because the car looks brand new with 99,000 miles on it. The integra and the CL both have too many paint imperfections to list. The CL is black so it's even worse. I have tried everything to keep it protected but it chips way too easy and scratches the same. I would not have bought the car if i knew it would not hold up. Am i alone here or is it safe to say the paint jobs from acura suck????

not that i feel any better but at least i am not alone. Is there any advice for keeping it in tip top shape or at least as good as i can. I even have a spiderweb going on near the corner of the rear bumber and i've never hit anything!!! This is the shittiest paint i have ever seen. I though the fit and finish of Acura's was supposed to be great. I lvoe my vette but more and more i am wishing i never bought this car. I feel like i have a glorified 1994 accord. I never buy cars on impulse i wanted a luxury coupe and this seemed to fit the bill but i am pissed. What else cani expect????

It's not really acura/honda's fault. All paint quality has gone down since they now have to use waterbased paints compared to the lead based paints they use to be able to use.
Also, I'd use zaino wax, does a good job of covering up the swirls and making the paint look better.

i dont know what u guys are talkin' about!!!!!
everytime i go to a carwash they compliment my paint,
u know why, cause i take care of the paint
i clean - polish- wax, u do that and the paint comes out
flawless every time
nice and deep looking
takes me 3hrs but its worth it!
u dont maintain the paint
its gonna go down simple as that
(by the way i park outside)still looks good

My paint is real shiny and I do get compliments on it all the time. But if you look close there are chips on the hood and front bumper everywhere. My ex calls is the poke-a-dot hood (that's why she's my ex. Yes the paint is shitty. Besides waxing it you could stop cruising at 100 mph.

My paint is pretty shitty, im thinking about getting a new paint job. Im still debating to get some flaws fixed for the meantime or just getting it over with and getting a new paint job asap. Is anyone elses clearcoat peeling off? Mine is peeling off on my rear bumper.

Also, would like to let you know, my best friend is an auto detailer and he always comments the worse cars to take care of are acura/honda black cars because the quality is so poor.

Look i know how to take care of cars. My vette consistently is a trophy winner and it has 99,718 miles on the original paint. I wax both the vette and the CL on average about every 3 weeks. This weekend i washed the acura with dawn to strip the wax off it then waxed it with a cleaner wax followed by a caot of high gloss carnuba. From 5 feet away it looks great, brand ew in fact but up close it looks like shit compared to any other car's paint i have ever owned. The vette and my past eclipse had / have flwless paint. Is it too much to ask that a supposed luxury car have equal quality paint. Also like i mentioned my Finacee's 96 integra sedan has the same issues. The paint on these cars is an embarassment. If i could sell this car for anything near what i bought it for it would be gone which is too bad because i like the way it drives but keeping it looking decent requires a rediculous amount of work. Wake up Acura, you paint and transmissions are crap. I am glad i have the 2.3 auto so i dont have the tranny problems others have. There were 3 TL's and 2 CL's in the dealers garage last week while there having trannys pulled, thats pathetic.

My '97 silver (Primrose, yea right!) CL's paint still looks excellent. My silver '89 Vette had to have the bumpers repainted and the head light doors because the paint faded.
The Vette stays inside in the winter and the CL is driven in the snow, so go figure. I had an '87 sliver Integra and the paint was faded in some spots.
