Hi Guys,
I had these codes pop up and I was able to fix them succefully. The following is the things/steps that you could do if you get the same codes.
Most probably chances are that the oxygen sensor before the catalytic converter has gone bad and needs replacement.
You can buy a nice sensor for cheap at www.oemacuraparts.com, i did a lot of research and found them to be the cheapest. The sensor that they send was an OEM HONDA part but the manufacturer of the sensor was "DENSO" so if you really want to get it cheap from outside market get a Denso make sensor...(it was approx $107)
This is what I did, I poured some Sea Foam in the intake to clean out the fuel injectors as the improper air/fuel mixture could have deposited a lot of carbon on them. I ran the car till all the white smoke that was being emitted was completely gone and I did not see any white somke coming from the exhaust.
Then I jacked up the car and sprayed some WD40 on the Oxygen sensor and let it soak for about 10minutes then using a 22mm spanner I loosened the Oxygen sensor and replaced it with the new sensor.
Then I guess that the spark plugs might have also gone bad due to the improper air fuel mixture, my guess was correct, as when I took them out they were really black. I had already purchased the paltinum bosch ones. So I replaced the old ones with a new ones.
I also replaced the air filter.
Unhooked the battery for 5 minutes for the computer to reset.
Problem fixed and the car drives like new
I am monitering how much has it improved on the MPG. The OE MPG states that it should give around 30MPG on highway. I just want to max out the MPG on my car.
I hope this helps people out there with similar problem.
Thankx and enjoy
Javed

Nice fix, how did you pour seafoam into your intake?

Hi 97BlackAckCL,
Mine is is a 98 2.3cl, Just unhook the flex pipe which connects the air box to the intake manifold, flex it upwards keep the engine running and just go ahead and pour it in. Let the engine fumbel a little bit and then gradually increase the gas and let all the white smoke get out, please be in a open and ventilated area as it smokes quite a bit.
If this helps then it is fine or else shoot me questions again on this thread and I will be more then happy to answer.
BTW I think I am getting good MPG will post the actual finding later.
Later,
Javed
