P-E-O error and replacing HU

so just this morning, first time ever, i get in the car and i get the infamous P-E-O error and it kicks out the cd...i called my acura serv. dept and the guy answering the call wasn't familiar with it...but the kicker is, i just replaced the damn hu a year ago cause of some other problems with it (and since i have a deductable) i'm gonna have to pay them 100 to replace it, even under warranty...

so my question is...

I read some threads about this error and heard something about having to replace the speakers if you replace the deck? what's up with this? am i just confused cause that sounds ridiculous? can someone school me? i've got a 97 3.0 with the bose system

cause otherwise, i'll just go buy some shit aftermarket deck for a couple hundred bucks and slap it in there instead of getting the plain factory one replaced for another 100

thx

I had no problem using an aftermarket head unit..much better sound and of course you can use the Subs...all aftermarket head units had a place to plug in rca's...you must be using some sort of convertor with the stock HU, to hook up the subs.

I got the same PEO error after we bought the car (new). The dealer took it and sent it to be fixed. This meant we drove around for a month w/o sound and then got it back and it only worked for a day. They gave me a new one and a year later that one went out so i just decided to go aftermarket since the warranty was up. It sounds so much better even with just stock speakers. I would def. go after market

I had the PEO error. Got my radio replaced in about 2 weeks under warranty. I dont think they changed the Speakers though. Regardless it works fine.

No one could figure out why the radio said PE-O. Recently I popped in a fresh CD-RW. Before I burned, the program displayed a msg stating CD-RW might not be good on Home Stereo's or Car Stereo's. I didnt ignored it. When I placed it into my Acura Bose low and behold the PE-O returned! I broke the CDRW and luckily it didnt affect my Bose.

Update, the cd player returned to functioning again...

I think im gonna ride it out until it dies for good and go aftermarket...this would be the third stock hu and i've been wanting to add a new look anyway...maybe i'll add video or something while i'm at it...

I've already got the rca connections (if needed) as i have an amp and subs already in the trunk, so i'm covered there as well

thanks again for the feedback guys...
