Damn, $4k for that???
The damage isn't that bad from the outside...
Honestly, I would fight it and take the check and fix it myself.
You could probably get a deck lid and bumper cover for a cheap price off ebay or something.
Looks like your taillights are both still in one piece.
The rear panel of the trunk (where the bumper mounts and trunk lid latches) could be straightened out easily with a sledge hammer... Seriously.
For the bumper cover, you could still salvage that one. You'll just need to replace the plastic spacers and clips that fasten it (should be pretty cheap).
When I got hit a couple of months ago, the bumper cover was ripped right off and so wasn't the welded on bracket that holds the bumper cover in the middle (right below the deck lid). Lucky enough for me, I have my own welder and the only part that really needed to be replaced was the spacer on the passenger side. I even had to weld a tear in my quarter panel.
Like I said, that's what I would do. Unless they gave me enough money for the total to get a new car that I liked...

thats definitely not 4k worth of damage, my old CL slid into a guardrail trunk 1st and it was way worse than that, my taillights were smashed and my bumper and my trunklid and spoiler were ruined, and the damage only came up to around 2600. If they estimated 4k, they're off their damn rocker

No way that's 4K i'd take the check and get a new trunk lid and bumper cover off ebay and roll

How dare you wish that on your ack
I started the year with a similar issue, not to that degree though. Cost me my $250 deductable for $900 worth of damage done by a drunk who couldn't park his POS (uninsured) Pontiac Grand Prix at a New Year's party. Oh well, I got her back from the shop on Monday. It took a week because of the bad weather. Not sure why. Oh well, keep your head up. You can fix or replace a car, just be glad you weren't injured.
lets see, i refill the coolant reservoir tank every couple of weeks. i have foam under the oil cap, but it'll need to be replaced anyways if i get new oil rings put on. and i'd rather have a low mileage f22 than rebuilding mine again since i had it rebuilt when i bought it. unless i go for a full-out rebuild

i can see transmission. any high mileage auto is gonna run into some shifting problems.

Next thing to go on my car will probably be the engine; everything else has been replaced @ least once. I'll either buy a new engine or a new car

i need a new engine, and probably a transmission down the road.
old people with accords that get into accidents
