Think of it this way...
Even if you don't get any of your stuff back, you take the lesson and keep on moving. The "new" things are more important than the past anyway. So just hang in there and you will be back on top in no time at all. Besides, with your skills... You definately have a future. And I for one hope that you get to return to the States if that is your desire.
