I've been changing my own oil since my very first car and I've always replace the filter each time.

Are you actually required to change the filter each time, if you keep using the same weight and brand of oil? On my CL, I usually change it by every 4K mi, but no more than 4K.

 

The owners manual recommends changing the oil filter every 15K. This is the same manual that recommends changing your oil every 7.5K.

I change the oil filter with every oil change. I think the standard is to change the filter with every other oil change.

I base mine on the fact that I run Mobil 1 and change my oil and filter about every 5-7K. I get the "Double Guard" filter from Fram. So far this seems to work fine.

 

its too inexpensive to not change the filter everytime you change the oil. Whats the point of having fresh oil with a dirty filter?

 

I dont mind paying 7-10 bucks for peace of mind, plus while you are down there you might as well do it.

 

I always change my filter when I change my oil. Around 5K miles using Mobil 1 synthetic.

 

When did you Mobile 1 users start using M1? Mine has 67K on it. I currently use the regular Mobile oil....that stuff is as clear as cooking oil. Good stuff.
