yeah pretty much. i heard it on the way home from work last night. it's kinda always made a noise, but only when it was cold. i quick changed the oil today at lunch and added a quart of Lucas Oil Stabilizer which did nothing for the noise. I almost lost it and felt like hammering the accelerator into the floor and just letting it blow.

I'm still in limbo on exactly what i'm doing at the moment but i'd like to swap a F20B in there

sounds like a bad valve. i would recommend not driving the car. you can fix a bent valve but fixing a cracked block or changing your pistons would be worse.

putting a mechanics stethoscope on the oil pan, you can clearly hear it coming from the bottom end.

Now i'm just trying to get the balls to order a DOHC vtec F20B. I've been researching the shit out of it for a day and a half. The only reason i'm holding off right now is that this is a D D and i dont want to dive into a large headache with this swap. i need this vehicle to function on a regular basis with as little problems as possible.

warning you now, H23A isn't as easy as an H22 swap. F20B is a nice motor, high compression high revving motor. Iron block too. Now that i have researched a little more, i might have gone F20B and put low compression pistons in it and boosted it instead of the H23A which took 3 damn months to do the wiring correctly.
