Octane

OK, a couple of days a ago there was a thread where everyone was bickering about what kind of gas seemed to work best for their cars. In the past in EVERY car I've had (~15) from RX7 to Dodge Daytona every single one does better both mileage and HP with 93. With every car I tried to see what the difference would be with lower octane and was dissappointed every time. However the overwhelming consensus the other day was that ~91 octane was better, so I tried. Wrong Answer! From stand still I would hit the gas and the car would just sit there for a minute thinking about what I had done to it and then after a second it would go and reluctantly. I figured i'd give it a while to get used to the change but after a day and 1/2, couldn't do it anymore. Went and got octane booster and topped off with 93: Solved problem. Is is just me?

For mine it makes a difference, specially when going pass 45 mph. When going out with my friend and we plan to be racing I put 93 plus NOS octane booster. The difference its huge.

Still ignoring the compression/detonation/octane relationship I see...

Couldn't agree with you more dust. I have better ways to spend my money than buying the same exact gas with a higher octane rating? What does that really mean? Nothing.
Check out the article in consumer reports if anyone is
a
little
skeptical.

how werid, i tried using 89 a couple of times, but always ended up using 91 again. Feels like my car has a slower response to 89 and lack of power for some reason. Maybe it's just my mind playing with me. But i use 91. Had 92 for a while but in CA 91 is the best.

i used to use 89 and i got very slow response in the start off for my car but once i hit around 40mph i get hella power from it ... i be going fast as hell but the start off for the car is wack. now i use 87 i start hella faster but less power .... i dont feel the push like how i used to.
