I installed a 75-shot in my Zex system this afternoon (just before the reported Tornado and heavy thunderstorms)!

I finally had a chance to take her for a run this evening.

WOW!

Holy Shit! I just sat there and spun my tires, the first time I floored it! Whoa!

I took it out on I-270, and let her rip for about 10 seconds from 60 to 110 mph (don't want to drain the bottle)! Damn, did it ever go fast!

I can't wait to hit the track tomorrow!

 

I so cant wait to get my NOS, I aint got that big $$, nice to hear it though, just the sound of you gettin it makes me want to run out and get it,

how do you have your nos setup...is it set to work at WOT or what. if it is set at wot throttle, how do you get a good start off the line without just sitting there and burning your tires? just not press the gas down all the way?

 

I have the same setup as Rick so i guess I'll answer your question. The zex kit does work at WOT so the only way I can get a great launch without burning all the rubber off my tires is by launch like normal without the zex activated and a second after my launch I flip the switch and starting spraying for the remainder of the 1/4 mile. Its basically the only way to get traction without having drag radials.

 

I'll most likely need to run my 1/4 mile this way. I simply could NOT keep the tires from spinning when I floored it!

When I ran the 55-shot, I was able to "powerbrake" the start with minimal spin. I don't think this will work with the 75-shot.

BTW: I spoke with a tech at Maryland Performance Center in Gaithersburg, MD who said the 3.0 (engine) could most likely handle between 300 and 350 crank HP.

As we all know, the problem would be the tranny!

My NOS money went into the Probe. All $1200 of it. It has another tranny, so it was worth it. I pick it up from the shop first thing in the AM and after a few spins around the beltway to break it in, I'll end up at Capital like everyone else. Just remember to get there before 9pm if you want to run down the track.

i dont really know too much about nitrous but after i kepe hearing about your guys' systems i am interested. :wackit: . So with the zex kit you can just have it on at all time and it only "engages" when you hit WOT? so i dont have to like hit a switch when i want to activate the nitrous? but there is a on/off switch for it? any more info would be great plus how much is the sex kit for the 3.0. you got me very interested rick. plus that and my friend has a 96 impala now and i just acnt keep up cuz he has 260hp to my 200hp so im gettign jealous.

 

I am also interested in how much that sex kit costs???

Did you ever throw on that bottle warmer?? I was able to do the same thing... Powerbraking with minimal spin, but with the tank over 1000psi I couldn't get traction.

They said that because I didn't have a firewall between my nitrous bottle and the passenger compartment OR because I didn't have a breather tube leading outside of the car, I couldn't run! :angry:

bryanz3.0cl: I don't have a tranny cooler, but I will have one in a week or two.

CiLver2.3: I have the bottle warmer, but it's not wired yet.

Because this was a last minute decision to hit the track, I left the speaker box in (along with the spare tire, jack, kept the 18s on, etc.). The same set up as 3 weeks ago!

I'm just really upset. It takes an hour to get there; plus I left work early.

But the real kicker was the weather.......Perfect weather!

- this is the last time i go to capitol raceway....those mother fuckers took my $25, checked me out, and i got into line to get ready. my friend and i get out of the car and go watch the races, and i hear my name called....so i go back to my car, and theres this guy there that says "is this your car" and "you're lucky i'm not towing it because you're in the way of traffic. go home. i'm not letting your race tonight." last time there.....assholes....and the time before they wouln'dt let me race because i "got there too late"...i showed up at 9:30 the same time i got there tonight! fuckin rednecks....(hope i'm not offending anyone by that). well, looks like the track is going to be out for a couple weeks until i do the engine swap....

Wow that sucks Rick. I have a blow down tube that I've never installed but the one time I went to the track they never opened my trunk or hood so I don't think they new what I had. Lucky for me .

Sorry to here about that dustbuster. I was really looking forward to hear your times. 75&80 is only 15 bucks and they don't check anything. They have never looked at my engine or trunk.

Oh, he vented a little.

I was driving behind him in PORNSTAR and he was just popping it for short bursts here and there, but I could see his tailights getting a lot smaller a whole lot faster. Had a little trouble chasing him in the Probe GT.

I am guessing that with stock wheels, nothing in the trunk and cool weather, he could possibly hit 13.9. I am giving him 14.1 with the setup now, he justs refuses to remove the jack, spare, and speaker box.

75/80 will be the track of choice now. See you guys there in 2 weeks.

Dustbuster, I would watch flooring you car with the 75 shot in it, you don't want wheel spin in low gears with that NOS, other wise you'll be "bullet proofing" your tranny a little early!!!, well that is if you have not already bullet proofed it.

 

Tranny's not bullet-proofed, so I'll take it easy!

Next time you all head to the track let me know. Hopefully my ride will be out of the shop quickly and I'll be able to go with you.
