Noise reduction and Sound Dampening

Hello Acurazine!

First post, and I have a few questions about sound dampening.
First off, how hard it is to remove the carpet on the floor? I read a post about all the stuff you have to remove, but after all that is removed, is it going to come out in one piece, and go back in? What about adhesives and stuff?

Once I get the carpet up, what does everyone suggest i put down? I was looking at the Second Skin spray on, Spectrum. As far as Matting, RAAMmat BXT, by RAAMAudio.

http://secondskinaudio.com/products/
http://www.raamaudio.com/

As far as the trunk, I dont think I can go wrong with Great Stuff Foam, and some of that RAAMAudio Matting.

I've been doing a lot of thinking about the upcoming stereo I'm throwing in the CL, and this is a good place to start. Main question, how the eff do i get the carpet out so that i can put it back in, and it looks fine?

Thanks

Oh yeah, i just got my red 1999 Acura CL 3.0L w/ Bose (which is getting ripped the eff out!)

The carpet is not held in by anything. It is one piece. The only thing holding it in is all the interior moulding. Plus its form fitting so it just sits there. You have to take everything out of the car, like all of the seats. The door sills, basically any part of the interior that the carpet goes underneat. The only things i can think of off the top of my head are all the seats, the door sills, the console, the kick panels, factory alarm. I think thats about it.....It all comes apart VERY easily. The sills pop out, there are no screws. The console is a vew screws. ANd i think the kick panels may be just clips as well. I have not taken out the back seat on the CL yet, but it is my experience with hondas that they are pretty easy. There should be like 2 bolts inbetween the upper and lower seats. The top part should just come right out, but the bottoms is a little tricky cuz there is a clip that you just pull up on then there is a hook that holds it in. Its actually harder to put in than it is to take out. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Just the rear deck and trunk lid took me 4 cans of dynamat dynashield spray, so I'd say a lot for the whole interior. This is in my future plans as well, planning to buy one of those 5 gallon tubs once i get an air compressor.

You dont happen to be talking about the Sludge Spectrum do ya?

The description says its thicker than peanut butter? How in the hell are you going to spray on that stuff? That is nuts (no pun intended).

Also, good to know its form fit, and doesnt have some ridiculous adhesive on it. Will it slide out of the doors? Or am i going to have to work with it above my head haha?

Yeah, I used my old 1997 Honda Civic Ex as a trainer for car stereo. Didnt turn out too bad, unfortunately busted a few bolts in the process haha. I remember i had to remove the seats so that i could remove the back dash and drop in my 6x9"s.

Speaking of speakers, Lets open that for discussion - I'm a JL fan, heres what im looking at:

JL Audio VR690 6X9
JL Audio VR650 6.5"
JL Audio XR100 Tweets

G'luck for that, if you're doing the whole car, it's gonna be expensive

Right on man, I understand. Just remember everything is custom for this car, so everything you set out to do usually doubles the cost of what you expect. Just a heads up, yay modding cars with no aftermarket support.

There's no such thing as custom when it comes to sound deadening. It's all universal stuff.
