Hey guys. I am looking to get some new shocks because I'm preparing for my turbo and I need better handling. This is what I'm getting as other parts of my suspension upgrade-

Springs-Eibach Prokit
Tires - Kumho Ecsta MX 225/40/18
Rims - Sport Max Racing 962 18x7.5

Here's the deal-I want to be able to handle decently well, but I don't want to sacrafice a ton of comfort in the process. This will be my daily driver when I'm home from college and might be taken on longer trips so I really don't want to be as stiff as a board. I wan to keep as much confort as I can but still get better handling than stock. I understand I'll have to give up some comfort to get beter handling, I jsut don't want my ride to be horrible. I'm between the kyb agx, bilsteins, and koni yellows. I like the adjustability of the koni's and kyb's, but the bilsteins name is great. Im not going to get teins so don't even bother talking about them lol. I jsut want to know out of these 3, which one you guys think would cater to my needs best. thx guys

i heard that kyb are not as good as tokicos and konis,,, i got tokicos illuminas and they work so far so good....

 

i heard "word on the street" that the n00b guide has everything.

 

What about Spring? Is Megan Racing Spring suitable for KYB AGX?

 

I have Illuminas, and they are great. The ride is still comfy and dampens the race springs I have on perfectly.


Although, if you do get Illuminas keep in mind that they drop the car 1-1.5" in addition to the springs.

 

Tokico illuminas is my other suggestion, I didn't mention it, cuz it wasn't one of her 3 choices

I heard tokico's aren't as well made as the 3 options I had listed, thats why I didn't really consider them but I'll take a look...also, the prokit is gunna drop the car 1.3in so if the illumina's drop it another 1-1.5in, thats a total of at least 2.5 inches, and I'm worried the size of my tire might rub... Also, I found a deal where I can get koni yellows and eibach prokit for $665 shipped.

 

No, you're not gonna drop 2.5 inches on prokit, at most 1.5 inches

im rolling on kyb/agx's and sportlines on my 2.2.. Ride is stiff as fuck but only because I have it set on the stiffest settings possible on these...

im sure that if I had it set on 1 in the fronts and 1 or 2 in the rear's it'd feel a bit sportier than stock but nothing absolutely drastic compared to it.

Plus, the drop looks real nice on 18's.

May i interject for a second and say that I find it funny she has listed things that she is GOING to do in her signature? I mean come on.... shes supra girl without a supra, is going to be getting pullies and a flowmaster next summer. Now she is going to be doing suspension upgrades, and will be buying springs rims and tires and a turbo. I will put down 50 bucks that a turbo kit never sees her car within the next year or even two. I feel like a dildo saying this but this is just itching in my head every time I read something she posts. Does this make me an asshole?

The Tokicos that get a bad rap are the blue ones, those suck. Mine have been holding up great, I've gone over a few small speedbumps going 10mph (I'm 2.5" off the ground btw) and they havent blown out. Plus they have a lifetime warranty if you get them installed by a shop (or if you know a mechanic who will write it off).

 

I got the KYB AGX shocks with the Eibach Prokit springs and I love it. The prokit might not look like much of a drop if you are riding on 18s but it'll definately be a comfortable ride.

Ryan- you're not an asshole, alot of people are probably thinking the same thing. Most people don't advertise future mods in their sigs and have plans for their car two years down the road.

ok ryan, you don't have to be an ass. I haven't touched that signature in like 3 months, I don't even pay attention to it. That stuff was when I thought I didn't have much money to put into my car, now I know what my budget is and what I can do with my car, so yes, I'm planning in advanced so I know what to keep an eye out for in case a sick deal comes along. I would be doing these mods right now if I wasn't in college trying to get a doctorate in 6 years when it's supposed to be 8. To everyone else, thx for all the advice, I appreciate it. I really don't want to go with used springs and/or shocks so new prokit and new koni yellows bought seperately are $700-$750 so I thought $665 was a good price.

I've searched ebay and the koni yellows I haven't found a total set of 4 for under $500. And the prokit is $200.

If you are going to be spending 600 bucks on shocks and springs PLEASE just save an extra 100 bucks and get some omnipower coilovers. They are way nicer and honestly a CL looks SICK slammed with rimzzez. I personally say go with 17s... the tires are way cheaper and you can go lower which equals more nifty lookin. Omni's are stiff as hell, and aren't adjustable

Good adjustable coils with less stiff adjustments are pretty damn expensive, plus adjustable height which sounds like u don't really need either

 

that's what I thought, which brings me back to my original idea lol, thx anyways shibby. So you guys think I should get kyb agx or illumina's over koni's? I thought all of you guys raved about the yellows lol I assumed if I had the money to do this, you'd all scream koni's ftw lol
