New rims installed, question/problem with them
OK, i got the new rims on and first off, i love the looks and the ride/ handling qualities of the nitto 555's. They are a very smooth, not too loud tire, and awesome in the rain. I put the rims on myself, and at high speeds, i.e. 60-80mph, i was getting some serious vibration throughout the entire car, not just the steering wheel. Sounds easy, just high speed balancing right? So, i took them back to the tire shop, and they checked out the front tires and found that the balancing was off. So they rebalanced them and torqued the lugs in. The problem went away for about 20 hwy. miles, and now it is back, not as bad as it originally was though. The guys said come back if it got any better, and they will do them same to the rear tires. SO, i will prob have them looked at thursday. My question is, could this problem be from messing with the tire sizes from a 205 55 to a 225 40? Is it the balancing, or might i need an alignment also? I am sure a lot of you fanatics know more then me, so help me out. I cant deal with this vibration anymore, also, i dont want to hurt my brand new tires.
I doubt that your vibration came from the change in tire size. Have them double check the wheel balance, and the alignment.
I just had a thought: Did your rims come with spacers (plastic rings that fit over your hubs)? If so, check and see if they're on ok.

tire size doesnt matter. try switching the fronts and rears after u know thye are all balanced right. if prob is still there then somethin else is up. nitto 555s arent a symmetrical are they? that wouldn make them louder if they are on the wrong wheel, but it wouldn't cause vibration. if the prob only came about after changin ur rims and tires its obviously one of the 2.

Yeah, check to make sure they have the directional tires going in the right direction. There should be an arrow on the side wall showing the direction.
Just a guess.
BTW: I have ADR's and no problems here. I have the flat sticker weights on the 7.5" wide, inside surface area.
