New Guy Looking For Guidance

First thanks for such a great site. Im a noob!!!

My question is fairly simple probably for those who know.

I just purchased A 1999 cl 3.0 vtec the car runs and looks great.

After reading this forum I decided I wanted to put in a Transmission cooler.

Upon inspection I noticed what looked like a radiator, horn mounted in front.

Directly behind it were two fans with what looks like a smaller radiator attached to the fan unit all the way across the lenght of both fans.

Could it be that the original owner or his Acura dealer installed a Transmission cooler as pre emptive maintenance.?

Or is this some other type of cooling device.

Im a little paranoid so please bare with me I love the car. But want to make sure I dont miss anything.

It has 96,000 miles and I purchased a additional warranty from warrantydirect.com for another 100,000 miles, It is good until 5 years or 196000 miles.

If thats not paranoid I dont know what is.

thanks in advance, for all your help.

I will post pictures once I figure out how.

Well I think I just answered my question.

While viewing BlackAck's Retrofit I noticed in one of the photographs the same set up + the trans cooler. One looked black(radiator) the other is larger (unpainted Aluminum )with fans attached directly behind it.

So its off to ADVANCED AUTO to buy the Hayden Transaver Plus OC-1677.

Thanks.

I have the hayden 1677

This is it in the front of the pic

Black piece on the right, you actually stock have 2 "radiator" sets, the rear one is your radiator for the engine is silver, the one in front which I painted gloss black (middle piece in this pic) is the A/C condensor, then I mounted my hayden tranny cooler to the condensor. Hope that makes sense. Here's a pic of just the condensor and rad.

This is what you're looking at without a tranny cooler, the tranny lines are run through your radiator, but the tranny cooler is an extra line of defense before that.

NOTE: the hayden can also be found on ebay for very cheap. We also have a diy guide that shows what needs done

Hey guys thanks alot, I ORDERED the COOLER today. I should have waited and read this before I ordered would have saved me a couple of bucks, but oh well. As long as it helps keep that transmission cool Im good. It seems to run and change gears fine. Gears change around the 2000 rpm +/-. seems pretty smooth.

Also the visor vanity lights dont seem to work are they battery operated, can they be repaired? I cant find anything in the user manual about them.

BlackAck I took your suggestion and printed out the cooler instalation guide some other member posted. It looks fairly simple. You guys are making ownership much more enjoyable. By the way nice touch with the lights.

Aside from the cooler any other recomendations,

Change the tranny oil every year.

Keep original air filter or go K&H.

Thanks again,
