New guy here, and need help already....

I just got a used 97 2.2CL about a month ago, it was at 122K at the time. But in one months times I travel 6000ml on it already, and I just found out a coolant leak last week when I took it to a mechanics for my first oil change. The leak is located on the left side of the engines and is close to the firewall. The mechanics haven't got enough time to checkk for the leak. So I still have no idea where is that leak from.

Can anyone tell me where I can go to check what is wrong, the mechanics just mention it could be the water pump. Since they believe the belt and water pump hasn't been change before.

I am located at LA area, but I travel back to SF during weekend. Do anyone have some suggestion on where I can take my car for check up, to fix this problem.

when u have your water pump replaced u want to have your timing belt replaced as well. they are both located in the same place (water is driven by timing belt i believe) so save yourself some money in the futre and do it at tthe same time. as far as having the pump replaced i remebered getting quotes between 500-550 for the timing belt and pump. pump wasnt much of an additional cost to the tab.

That sounds like the heater core. The lines of coolent run into the firewall, and into the heater core to provide heat for the interior. If one of those lines is cracked or loose, you will get a leak near the firewall. Good luck.

Woe, yeah, get that timming belt and water pump changed, but I still think your leak is from the heater hoses.

I'll go again and see some other mechanics.

Thanks for the warm welcome and helpful suggestion. I will have to go and find a mechanics as soon as I can, and to have it fix soon. Because it looks like leaking seriously now.

By the way, does anyone know where I can get hold of a service manual of this car?
