New Girl in town seeking help!!!!!!!

Hello
I am very new to this site. I would first like to say that I have spent over 4 hours reading most if not all the posts to find answers to my questions. I have had a blast! You guys are funny . . . but some of you are mean >;]. I hope I don't get bashed .

I have a 97 3.0 CL V6. It's fully loaded Black on Black and has not been modified from factory standards in any way.

My baby is currently in the hosptial though getting her transmission fixed. . . . I know I know what a shock!

I read many posts about transmission problems and Trannys ( ) for the newer model CL's but was not able to find anything about the 97 model. Has anyone had problems with the transmission in thier 97 CL? If so any advice or your experinces would be greatly appericated.

Once my baby gets out I want to fix up her interior and exterior. I really want to get the Silver/White gauges I have seen on a few 97 CL's and go all the way with the wood trim.
Does anyone know where to get the Gauges for the 97 CL? Some say it's not possible, but I have seen them in come CL's lately. I already have the factory Boise sound system and am not real high on music so probably won't change the system.

Exterior wise I want to change the all standard headlights to the really cool clear ones. . . any suggestions? I already have a spoiler. Oh, and RIMS!!!! I have NO CLUE on were to start - I was thinking of going chrom to match the outside chrome trim. Any suggestions would be greatly appericated.

Well basically I'm a girl and have NO idea about fixing up cars and need LOTS of help. I am learning slowly though. If anyone is interested in helping me out please feel free to send me a message.

P.S. I am also single and looking . . . if that helps any.
Check me out if you like
ME!

Welcome to the family.

First, the link doesn't work.

Second, just do a search. There are lots of mod stores around, but very few parts for the V6 CL. The 4 banger gets a lot more parts, so just be patient, we do have some things. Start at places like

www.speedoptions.com
www.wheelmax.com
www.ebay.com yes, Ebay. Do a search for Acura CL or AccordV6, and look for the years 94-97 for parts, most fit our car.
www.whalentire.com
www.tirerack.com
www.autocarparts.com
www.procarparts.com

These should get you started.

Have fun, and hang around, you'll hook up with some parts.

Check out the gallery, and peoples www link at the bottom of their posts just to check out some of the rides we all have.

Ok, well may be I'm a little sensitive here but I have searched.

As I stated I searched this forum for over four hours to find answers to my questions. That does not include other time I spent searching other sites before even finding this forum. I have looked at many CL's which is how I know there is a way to get the silver gauge. I have followed links and looked at many many websites. Yet I am still lost.

I think my problem is my lack of knowlege of auto and parts. How do you know what parts fit on different vehicles. One user on this broad said his dash kit was fron eudo (I think I spelled that right). But when I searched Eudo's products all I didn't find any CL parts.

I am very good a searching on the internet and don't think i would have a problem finding places to get parts.
I just don't know what parts to get.

Welcome to the board!!!!! Nice to see a female making her move to the Modded Side od the CL...

I must say that it will be hard for you to accept advice and knowledge off this site and start iin 1 specific spot... we all have similar and different ideas as to where to start, finsh and what to do in btwn...

I have a 98 3.0 and have worked my car to IMPORT SHOW specs... I will be complete, w/ exception to a complete custom interior (that will be next winter!) and can easily say to do X, Y and Z.. but you really have to start knowing what you want to do as priority (SHOW or GO) and then break that down into what parts you are interested in enhacing....

please keep in mind that many parts DO NOT exist for our CLs but ACCORD parts (some 94-97 and some 98-00) will fit our cars... it does get confusing as to what year for what part... but you WILL make it through...

my advice.. follow your taste and your taste only.. NO MATTER what anyone says... and to be pateient and smart with your $$$$.... GOOD LUCK!!!!

and post your pics again.. your link doesnt work... I mean you are in TX and im in NY so it really does me no good.. but i am curious as hell!!!!!

Clear bumper lights can be found at several sites under 97 acura CL.

Go to TireRack.com and you can designate the car you have and it'll show you the rims that fit in the size you want. It'll even show a side view of the car and what the rims may look like on your ride.

Interior dash wood trim can be had under 97 acura CL automatic at several places. I think one is called Florida dash or florida trim or something...

Look on e-bay for the silver "reverse-indiglo" guages for the 97 Accord EX Automatic. The guages are the same.
You may want to have someone install them. Or just go to one of the many online retailers and search for the white face guages or white-face indiglo guages for the 97 accord EX auto.

The engine in your ride is the same as the 97 accord V6 so performance parts can be found that way.

Hope that helps a little.

Welcome to the CLub!

Welcome!

Believe it or not, I found just about every mod on my car on eBay!

No matter where you look for parts (eg: internet, speed shop, etc.), keep in mind that our engine is the same as the 1998-2002 Accord V6. Therefore, there are many mods that are listed as '98-'02 Accord V6 and NOT for the '97-'99 3.0CL. Some examples are: AEM Cold Air Intake (CAI) = use the designation for the '98-'02 V6 Accord; AEM Underdrive Pullies = use the designation for the '98-'02 V6 Accord.

It's different for the suspension (shocks/struts & springs). Our 3.0CL's suspension is based on the '95-'97 V6 Accord. When looking for suspension parts, if you don't see them listed under 3.0CL, look under '95-'97 V6 Accord.

When looking for front rotor upgrades, keep in mind that the '97 front rotors are different from the '98-'99 rotors. Honda redesigned the Accord in 1998, and therefore, the '98-'99 CLs have different front brake rotors. When search for '97 rotors, if you don't see them listed for the '97 3.0CL, look for '95-'97 V6 Accord.

I bought my rims and tires from www.whalentire.com on sale for a great deal. Like I said, everything else has come from eBay.

I too have been one of the unfortunate one's to have needed a tranny replaced. I got lucky in that I didn't have to pay for it since there was no warrenty on my car (long story). Should you need a tranny replaced and its not under a warrenty, you can purchase a warrenty from AAA for about $700.00 that will cover the basic engine/drivetrain components (all the major mechanical stuff). Considering a rebuilt tranny will cost around $3,000.00 installed, you'd save a boat load of cash. Good luck with it.

NEVER!!!! - I'm still here. I log on every night!!!!

Tring to make a decision on what to get first for my baby when she gets out of the hospital.

Since I have never done anything to her since I bought her I know I need to:
1 - Change Spark plugs and wires (any suggestions on a good brand - want to get Blue wires though)
2 - Flush raidator, change oil and all filters.

I am seriouslly thinking about adding the cold air intake. Been looking up AEM's intake. Sounds ok. Any thing special about AEM over other intakes out there? Or is it more expense for the name?

So for the AEM air intake I would buy the one made for the 94-97 Honda Accord? Most entries on Ebay say 4cy honda accord is that the correct one? Little confusing for me. V6, yet 4cy?????

oh and I have attached a picture of my car. . . she's really sick

spark plug wires should not be needed to be replace but spark plugs if you are close to 100k you should it recommended you do but i change my every 50-60 or so

i recommend the denso iridium spark plugs they do help you and you can see the difference, well at least i did.

aem and injen are the intake maker you have to choose from, there are also, dac and weapon r but aem and injen are perdominate, i use injen but most guys on here use aem, dont know why but i like my injen more. try to go to a local mod shop and check out other cars and ask them they are always more that willing to help especially for a girl. also check prices before you buy, you will sayve money in the long run.

I think the last ones are the silver gauge faces you were looking for.

As for the CAI, there a 2 distinct camps here. Those who believe that any CAI tube will work as well as another (just have a good filter), and those who believe that a name brand is the way to go (primarily AEM).

Whatever your choice, you need a CAI that is made for the '97-'99 3.0CL or is listed as a '98-'02 Honda Accord V6 (3.0).

I paid around $65.00 for a generic 2-piece CAI, and replaced the filter with a better one (like K&N).

I'm going to get the AEM after I get my new nitrous system put in.

Good Luck!
