New to forum, introduction

I have a 1997 acura 3.0 cl I bought from a friend for $600. It is green and in great shape, but does need a little tlc. Just hit 107K and had the full 100k service done. The inside I would like to clean up the leather as my buddy always had his dog in the car and the leather is a bit worn.
Also the tranny over revs into thrid gear (automatic) so I need to get the tranny fixxed. Also needs the wood grain molded piece around the temp controller. And both side mirrors.
But I thought it was a great deal when I researched it and the KBB was around $5500 and I love the car. I had no idea they had such get up and go. They are quick as hell, and look great with awesome lines, not to mention get decent gas milage.

I just would like to restore the car and since I found this board searching for parts I figured why not register, participate and see how you guys (the real enthuziests) do it the right way. I am happy I found this place, but am very new to a lot of this so please bare with me, sometimes when guys are new they get slammed and full of negative commentors I hope this board is not like that you guys seem cool.

lol as long as you SEARCH first and read the Noob Guide thats in bright bold letters on the top of the forum before you go posting and asking questions, we're the nicest guys around. Take some time out and make sure you read it! Welcome to the board though. Sounds like you have some work to do with the car, and the tranny sounds like it might be giving out on you soon so u might want to start saving up for a rebuild. other than the tranny on teh 3.0's in some cases, this car is pretty damn solid.

Hello and welcome, this board we don't slam people but you will get the occasional hazing. Check out this guide to get started,
https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=179727

Welcome to the Boards, sounds like you got a good deal on the CL. $600 is good for almost any car. The tranny is gonna set you back a little, but it sounds like the rest of the work should be no problem.

Even with a rebuilt tranny, that's still a heck of a deal.

Oh, and welcome to the forum!

Thanks guys, yea will post up soem pics, have to take some though.. It is def. a solid car I always liked it when i would borrow it to go to LA. LIve here in SF, Ca. It is Green with a few things to fix mirrors dash trim little stuff. The Tranny is ok I think it will be a while before the rebuild but yes I plan on doing it.

Ninja the KBB is as follows

Condition Value

Excellent
$6,120

Good
$5,580

Fair
$4,935

That is what I got when I plugged in my numbers, I dont know why you got something different. Maybe you have a 2.3? This one is a 3.0.

Anyhow thnks for the welcome this board really looks interesting, and I am sure you guys have plenty of lnowledge about CL's!

There's an All Cali meet next month. You should attend it and meet the Cali group.

Thanks Cocoa, sounds like fun. It is a little too far for me though gas here in Cali is about $4.65 a gallon and I just dont have the money to waste. But thanks maybe next year. Anyone got any pics of last years meet? What to expect if I went?

Sign your car up at myacura.com and you can get an exact trade in quote from a dealer. It is also a pretty cool site to keep up with maintenance on your car and stuff like that.

Thanks for all the positive comments fellas, I am enjoying the board, and yes always using the research button,lol..

Found guy on craigslist that is selling the center consol top piece (grey leather armrest) for $25 bucks...Not a bad deal I am goign to go today and check it out. Another guy is selling the entire dash of his car for $50. I dont need the entire dash but am going to look at it to see the condition of the molded wood grain peice around the temp controller.

How do I get that thing off without breaking it? I know the fasteners or clips will break I am not worried about that as th link to the site you guys gave me sells them for about $2.00.
Also got a quote from a local garage to install brand new mirrors on both sides for $280 all together...not a bad deal huh?

Damn! I got the entire dash it is like brand new not a scratch mark or any fading what so ever. The whole thing only cost me $50, same year model etc. I need to take a pic and post it..
Before I search anyone know how difficult it is swtiching out the entire dash? All the wire harnesses are still intact in the new one.

Last year's meet was great. other than the fact that alot of people flaked out on it. It was worth it. im thinking IMO most of us will be spending about 65 bucks on just gas or so. Alot of people want to go to Pismo Beach for just clam Chowder haha.
