New to this board

Hi all...I just registered for this board. I've been on the TL Type-S board since I got that car but I just bought a 98 CL 3.0-P, used and figured I need another board :-)My (new) car has 57,000 miles on it and I bought it from an Acura dealer.

Just to cut to the chase, I bought this car cause I figure it would be very reliable. I did get an extended warranty to 100K miles plus another 4 years. Is this model prone to any particular mechanical difficulties or quirks? Anyone have a lot of miles on theirs, say, 75K and up? Anything I should watch out for? Thanks.

i have a 97.. 100k miles on it now.. only problem is the windows slow down and fail after awhile and i hear its expensive to fix.. but warranty should cover that, well.. if you run a 75 shot of nos through it a lot of other things tend to go as well.. congrats on the buy tho, gluck

Welcome to this fourm.
The only thing i know of is the windows suck!
The motors or regulators or something breaks on a lot of the cars on this fourm. The waranty covers it so your safe. Other than that tho only other complaint ive herd about the 3.0 is the delay in 1st gear. Dont know exactly what this is cause i got a 2.2

if you go to the acura or honda dealership they can put silicon around the housing of your window and it will be faster. my friend did it with his accord and it works real well

Well, I sold my car with around 63k miles (bought it brand new) and I really had no problems with the it. Couple of little things, but nothing severe. Both of the "major" problems were electrical, the gas light stayed on (even when the tank was full) and the sunroof stopped sliding open. Both were fixed no prob. under warranty. I loved that car, no regrets with it... of course the TL-S is better so I'm even happier!

Welcome to the board!

I have a 3.0 with 45,000 miles. Unlike Juniorbean, I decided to keep my CL instead of buying the new TL. I asked a bunch of people on this board and they pretty much solidified my decision to keep my CL. My main concern was long term reliability and I was satifisfied that a number of people had wayyyy over 100K miles on their CL's.

The only thing that I have had to replaced, was the Alternator, under warranty. The rest of the stuff was minor.

Good luck!

Thanks for all your replies. I'm looking forward to driving this car. I had noticed the windows were a little slow. And I had noticed the lag between first and second. I'm spoiled due to my new TL-S; the CL feels a lot slower. I noticed one poster in another thread said he got a big performance boost from the tuneup at the 60K check, and my car is coming up on that, so maybe I'll get a little "quick" then too.
