New Alternator at 68K

Anybody else have to replace their alternator at around 70K miles?

This is ridiculous!!!!!!!
How can that be possible on an Acura/Honda engine so soon.

I had to replace my alternator around 80k..It has nothing to do with Honda/Acuar engines..Our cars come equiped with AC Delco batteries and alternators..Just another perfect example of how american products suck ass!

If anything, I'm definitely replacing my AC Delco battery with another one! I've had mine since 1997 in everything from sub-zero NY winters to 100+F CA summers, and like Colt 45, it still works every time!

Get a cap for your car. Systems kill baterys and altanators. the cap will protect them and help with your light dimming

you can get a 1 farad car for less than 100 $

If you have a system, you should not be running off of the stock alternator or battery. Either get a bigger amp alt or a better battery with a cap.

Anyway, before my alt went I got a whining sound comming from the belt and a burnt smell. The bearings in the pulley are what usually go which means the pulley is harder to turn so as the belt goes over it, it dosen't run smoothly. I actually had to take the belt off and drive to and from work (only 12 miles round trip) charging the battery every night for about 3 days until my new alt came in. It didn't have anything to do with the battery. I'm just surprised that it went this soon. I had a jeep before and I didn't need to replace any major component until around 100K. Oh and replacing the alt is not as simple as you might think. There's a lot of shit you have to remove around it in order to fit it in nice and smoothly.

My car only has 54,000 miles. I had to replace my alternator aound 40 K. It was giving a whining noise and I took it to the dealer for replacement under warranty. No system, or any mods at that time, bone stock!
