im about to wire a neon to my trunk light. It has 2 wires... a black one and a black one with a white stripe. The trunk light has 2 wires also a red one and a white one. so am i correct in the assumption that...

Black Neon Wire and White Trunk Wire are negative?

Black+White Neon Wire and Red Trunk Wire are positive?

nope... i had to cut the wire because it only came with a cigarette adapter

 

pull out your trusty test light (go to autzome and buy one for 5 bucks if you dont have one....it looks like a icepick with a little bulb in the handle and a wire sticking out its ass) clip the wire to any bare ground (its a ground wire) and stick the ice pick end in either of the wires, on the brake light and neon and whatever lights up is positive

 

ohh, if you "assume" and its wrong, the first time you light it, youll blow the neon

 

trust me....i...uh, know from experience

 

yes you will blow the light if you don't guess it correctly

or a fuse, if there is one
