I want to remove my air silencer today but i have a question? if i remove the air box at the bottom, does that mean i have to remove the rest of the intake (like the filter and the rubber tubing from the throttle body down?? or can i just remove the air silencer and leave everything else the way it is?? i want to do this so any ideas would be good
u can do 2 things.
1. take out the air box the square thing under the hood and the resenaotr the square thing inside the bumper and then fit a cone shaped filter onto the end of ur stock intake. the round long thing.
2. just take out the resnoator in the bumper and buy a drop in k&n filter and put it in ur airbox. the square thing under the hood.

I think the point of having a short-ram intake is: 1. Most of them are made out of material that resists heat better than stock. 2. They are polished and bent to have optimum airflow. . .if I had the chance I'd just have bought the CAI now.
well a short ramlike aem will perform better and keep heat out better. prob 1-3 more peak hp. it is desigined for performance. the stock setup was desiged fort he stock air box. plus i dont know about ur car but the stock intake on my car had a like a 2" hole in the bottom which hooked up to the A.I.R system. which can be removed with an after market intake.
