That's not funny, my old circuit breaker on my amp power wire was defective and grounded out to my chassis, and started sparking. Talk about scary shit when smoke and sparks are comin out of your hood, luckily i didn't have my cf hood on yet, or i'da had a heart attack

yeah i returned the sub, so now im not too sure what i want to buy.
i think i might go with 1 12" or 1 10" because i dont really want it to take up too much room in the trunk. so i guess its back to square one.

if you can get the mrd-m501 for $100 take it and run, that's a very good price. And since you're getting that amp I would recommend getting an Alpine Type R 10" dual 4ohm. wire the coils for 2 ohms and run it in a ported box about 1.0 - 1.25 cu.ft. Excellent sound quality, hits hard, low and precise.

What does h22 have to do with a 10" sub system?

No need for a capacitor for this low of watts. I can do some searching for you if you like. For that low of watts, look at used Zapco, us amps, ppi, xtant. Anyone of those amps will last a very long time, and don't cost very much at all. I would probably run 10-6 guage wire. I have 0 guage sitting in my trunk, but that is for like 2000+ rms watts (very few people run this much). You might want a bigger battery, deep cycle, or just high cold cranking amps.
I bag to differ. I'm running over 2000 watts with all of my amps, and that's RMS

What brand amps? I had a us-amps 2000 (pre 2000) , look it up...What exactly are you bagging to differ on? If you did some research you would see that the more watts you are running, the more your alternator will have to run to replenish the power your battery is losing. This will wear out your alternator in a very short amount of time. Oh, just because your Jensen/Sony amps say they are pushing 2000 watts doesn't mean they are.

Were you saying that you beg to differ that not many people run 2000+ watts? Say you put an amp that is rated to 2000 watts at 13.8 volts, if your alternator can only supply 11 volts when the amp is running at maximum, you are never going to see that 2000 watts. You may only see 1200 watts, and will probably put your amp into protection mode. To get a solid 12+ volts while your 2000 watt amp is running your going to need to dedicate about 180 amps to the amp alone.

When you hear an actual 2000 watt system you will know. My old system would almost make you sick if I turned it up. Depending on the driver used too. Also, what I am saying is not practical for most people obviously, but I am obsessed with systems.

If your running 1 amp I would use 4 gauge power and ground. You can use a cap but save your money until you buy another amp then get at least a 1 farat cap.

I was differing on not many people run 2000 watts. I'm not trying to compete with you, but my stereo is just going for loud and very clear. I got Pioneer PRS 51/4's up front and pioneer PRS 63/4" in a fiberglassed rear deck (both component speakers) and 2 10" Diamond audio D6 all being pushed by Diamond Audio Amps. I do have a capacitor though, and i do need it.

I don't really know what ampers ours is, probably 60-80. A high output one would probably run 250-500 depending on what brand. Theres a guy around on stereo forums that make ones for any car for about 250. Another option is having your alternator rewound to make higher amps, but the alternator has to be reving higher to make any kind of decent power, but its only like 100 dollars to get a shop to do this.

Ours are rated at 80 amps, you will have to buy a prebuilt one, most generator techs wont' rebuild our alts cuz it's too costly. A built alternator on ebay goes about $200-300

Found this http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/94-97...spagenameZWD1V I don't know anything about the manufacturer, or how long this would last you. Maybe a day-3 years, but it does have a 2 year warranty...as long as the company is around that long.

Yeah, way cheaper prices for the high outputs on Hondas then with the older American cars thats for sure. Another thing, Ohio generators are supposed to be bullet proof, but for about 500 for 200 amps they better be...

I had an ohio gen a few years ago, just don't wanna shell out the money when alterstart uses pretty much the exact same design and components and warranties their work too.

Don't know if this has been mentioned, but if you don't have an aftermarket deck, you won't use RCAs to connect to the amp (unless i'm just forgetting the factory deck having RCA outs...?) You'd need go line level.
